I am soooo mad, I am going to the store to get some necessities and I won't be able to have my customary donut.
I've been counting my calories for just a week, and I'm really sick of it already.
somebody help!
Well, I think you need to ask yourself if you actually "need" that donut, or if it's a craving based off of habit. Not only are habits hard to break, but hard to establish as well.
If you're already sick of calorie counting, perhaps you could scale back a little bit, and incorporate smaller changes. Like only counting in the second half of the day, if that's when most of your cravings hit.
Or, make a really small change, and just get a smaller donut.
And you might want to consider the possibility that calorie counting isn't the best method for you. Perhaps focusing on controlling portion sizes and what kind of food you eat would work better.
But it will be okay - really. Treat yourself every now and then - I learned early on that denying myself the things I really liked is why previous weight loss efforts always failed.
Good luck!
Or, do the math to see if you can fit the donut in somehow.
Better still (at least for me) is to figure out what you can replace the donut with that, even if still not good, is at least better than the donut.
Or, remember that the donut is the tool of your enslavement! Rise above the donut!
Good luck!
Question to ask yourself: Is it because of customary donuts (or other such 'customs' that you joined CC in the first place?
You can certainly squeeze a donut into the day of calories. But you could also squeeze a lot more healthy treats in for the same calorie value and not be hungry later from the sugar overload! Your call!
Calorie counting will get easier when you come up with better substitutions and don't have to focus as hard on doing the "right" thing. I promise eventually it comes more naturally!
YOU CAN RESIST! And think of how proud you will be that you managed a grocery shop while resisting a huge temptation. You won't be quite as mad when you see your weight dropping will you????
Self control is hard. Good luck!
I am also somewhat donut-challenged and here's what (usually) works for me. Try to bring someone with you when you go to the store, order a donut and break it in half and share. Husband and teenage sons work well as they will happily assist you in getting rid of that half.
This satistfies a craving and fits into my calories. Half of a plain donut is about 150 calories.
Is there any way you can treat yourself to something else? How about a nice bath? Maybe a massage? Perhaps you can shift your focus off of the....hmmm...whatever we were discussing a second ago...success...prosperity...health...well-be ing.
Distract yourself. You will feel much better, I promise. :D
I like the half donut idea. Its what I do with chocolate bars, even the small funsize ones... much more fun to share!
I ended up choosing popcorn instead of the donut.
I ate too much of it, but still didn't do the damage that I could have done.
thanks to all for the support. It's comforting to know that others are fighting the same battle.

Hey Did you know that the average craving only lasts for about 8 minutes? if you can distract yourself with doing something else, you will easily forget all about the pesky donut :) grats on choosing the popcorn!! :) you made CC proud :)
You can do it ! DON'T GIVE UP :)
b48 i am in the minority here...if once a week you want a doughnut i say have the doughnut and maybe add on a few minutes of cardio to make up.....i totally understand the frustration of being "fed up". after a while fed up turns in to "ta hell with this" and then you eat 2 or 3. there are a million ways to make up the calories of a doughnut in a week. i have a few beers with the guys once a week (which i know i shouldnt) but i add on cardio durning the week to make up for it....just remember being in it for the long haul means finding ways to be healthy AND happy....no ones perfect!!! good luck fighting the good fight! ![]()

I'm with Skillz794.........have the donut.
I have one mid-week and one weekend treat. Means that I don't get cravings and that I can do this long-term rather than short-term-famine/binge. And the weekly 600 extra calories of those 2 treats is easily taken care of with an extra hours roller-blading on weekends. For me, life is about balance.
Good luck finding what works for you.
