Do you eat enough fiber?  Also, are you getting healthy fats from nuts or fish in your diet?

Fiber is definitely the way to go on this one, and the more natural the source is, the better.  Whole grains, especially bran, as well as prunes or prune juice usually get things moving for most people.  You can also try metamucil, which is gross, but pretty safe to use on a regular basis.

Since you are a teen, if this problem is persistent, it is probably wise that you go see your doctor, just to make sure everything is OK.

PLENTY of water. I mean drink 2 liters in two hours. Don't drown yourself, but drink enough and it'll flush right out of ya.

Also, snack on dried fruit, almonds, APPLES, and prunes.

An apple + 2 liters of water first thing in the morning helped me. I had the same problem. If you can stand to not eat anything for breakfast but an apple, water and hot tea (no sugar), you'll be good to go.

Coffee usually does it for me.  Two cups and Im in the bathroom for an hour LOL

In the hospital, they often give people warm chicken broth.  That will get things moving along pretty quickly.

I've been having the same problem, and I've found if I can stay away from dairy products for a day and only eat fruit, veggies, and grains that will do the trick.  Warm beverages also can help, and definitely stay hydrated.

The same thing used to happen to me when I was eating lots of refined carbs as teens often do.  Remember the acronym FEW - fiber, exercise and water.  It'll clean you right out and you'll feel 10lbs lighter!

This has happened to me, and I found that drinking as little as 4 ounces of coffee once a day makes everything normal.  Don't ask me how or why - but it does!  Laughing

Whats a refined carb?

Sugar, french fries, potato chips.

Coffee, or prune juice, lots of water, and a long walk or run.  Pecans and a lot of sugar free hard candy (I think sorbitol is the ingredient which can work as a laxitive).  Since this has been going on for a couple weeks, you may need more than home remedies.   If you are impacted, (dammed up) you will still be pooping a some, more liquidy than usual.  Give the home remedies a try for two or three days, but you may need a medication.

There is an over the counter medication called miralax.  It is very gentle and depending on how badly you are backed up it will work over a day or two.  You take one dose a day until the constipation is relieved.  My son was severely constipated and the doctor recommended this.  It is a powder which can be mixed into any liquid and is flavorless.

try raisin bran (or All-Bran Strawberry Bites is your're Canadian--those r my fave!) for breakfast and eat lots of fruit, veggies, and whole grains (as much as u can and build up your intake).  also, try soy nuts (soy beans with a little aslt on 'em, kidna taste like peanuts).  or bean/lentils/chick peas instead of meat (eat meat 3-4 times a week, and the rest of time time eat those, tofu, eggs, and other kinds of protin for ur protein intake).  remember the camp song: beans! beans! the musical fruit!...  etc

ground flax seeds! those work wonders! that and some coffee always gets me going ; )
