Need some encouragement!
I know this sounds silly, but I'm starting to feel like I can't do this! I think I just need somebody to say that I can in a way that makes me believe them. This is really hard for me, and I'm sure it's hard for everyone. I think I just need a little TLC and encouragement, because my support system has already given up and it's only day 5. *sigh*
Take one hour at a time if you have to like I did in the beginning. I know what you mean about being discouraged. I ate 1,200 this morning just in pancakes (2), syrup and butter. It's easy to do if your not eating high volume low cal foods.
So the tricks ive found is eat every few hours to keep your matabolism going otherwise you will get too hungry.
Keep a wide variety of healthy fresh veggies, fruits and lean meats on hand.
Only weigh once every week or two weeks.
Whatever happens. Don't give up!
You can do this. Don't deprive yourself too much or make your calorie intake too low. A 500 calorie deficeit will end in a 1 lb weight loss weekly. Stay away from sodium (it's hard to keep it low but around 2,000 is good daily).
I would suggest not exercising every day AT FIRST. Wait until your body gets use to it. So in the beginning every other day is good.
If you are really craving something then plan it into your calories but don't deprive yourself or you will feel cheated.
The heavier we are the quicker we lose weight in the beginning. Remember the body didn't put it on over night and it's not going to lose over night. The body has a memory and will platue but be patient it will come off eventually. Sometimes in really odd ways like for a week nothing then in a few days 3-4 lb difference. So don't give up.
If you say you can't then you can't. There are many people on here who have lost tons of weight. If they can do it so can you. You are not exempt. Some it's harder then hell and some find it easy but the main thing I think is volumatrix ...eating high volume low cal low fat foods to keep yourself filled up.
I don't have much of a support system either except these lovely people on here. I have lost 13 lbs in a month. I am 5'2 and started out at 293 lbs. I'm now 280 lbs. My highest ever was 314. I am sedentary mostly due to being disabled but make myself work through the pain and exercise sitting in a chair.
You can do this! You are not different then anyone else in this aspect. If they can do it so can you.
Nessa, it's hard to better yourself when those around you aren't on board. I know. My husband and kids are NO help what so ever. My hubby keeps twinkies and oreos in the house (I had one of each last night, oops!).
But, with that said, I'm also the one making all the food. So they either eat what I eat or they make themselves a bowl of cereal or a PB&J.
I start every meal by putting out a plate of veggies and dip. This helps me fill up a little before I even start eating my main course. This has also helped everyone add a little more fiber into their day.
There are so many food option out there now. I had 3 pancakes (fiber one pancake mix) with blueberries, veggie sausage and sugar free syrup for breakfast and was FULL on just under 300 calories.
I agree with Kindal, take it 1 hour at a time. It all adds up!
You can do it!
I know that this might sound odd but I have to remind myself when I get down that I deserve to be successful. Don't let anyone, including yourself tell you that you don't deserve to be successful. Good luck!
Everyone is worth more than five days, because you've got a whole life to live. You have to make this come from the inside, and say: My life is my life and I am the ONLY person who can change it!! Support systems are nice, but you are the only person who will continually be there for you, through thick and thin, no matter what. You have to love yourself enough to say you deserve this.
And trust me, you do deserve it. Because you are the only you on this planet. That in itself is enough reason for you to be a happy and productive member of this society. Without you, hundreds of people would be affected. Even if it's just that guy you let in on your way to work, he appreciated you. If he can appreciate a total stranger for a minute, you can certainly appreciate yourself enough to change your life.
You CAN do it! :D

Nessa~, there are so many people on CC who understand the difficulty you are facing. I'm one of those people. I tried and tried many times over to lose weight and eventually ended up weighing more then 400 pounds.
This time I succeeded. How? This time I didn't go on a diet -- instead, I made up my mind to make lifestyle changes. To make those changes, I had to educate myself. I read everything I could about good nutrition and exercise. I learned what I could eat to make me feel full on less then 1,500 calories a day (fiber!). I picked up on simple exercises that I could start with at my morbidly obese weight. I was well armed this time to make it a success.
The concept for losing weight is so easy.... consume fewer calories then you burn in a day. But achieving that daily goal can be a challenge.
You CAN do this! Think of weight loss as a bit of a puzzle. Start looking at all the different components (calories, nutrition, exercise, treats, motivation, etc.) and find the combination that's right for you. One of the great things about CC is that there are plenty of success stories on here and lots of people willing to share with you how they won the battle.
Sending you a big virtual hug!!!
You guys...thanks. I feel much better now. I really appreciate all your support! I needed it!
If you have time today, go do something and complete it. Anything. Try a short walk. Just get the ball rolling again because you know that if you came to this site you've completed the hardest step--recognizing that you need to make change. I think everyone goes through a period as you have described--and I see that you already got a big virtual hug, so I'll send you a virtual "high five" to congratulate you for the progress you've already made and for what is surely to come!
You can do it!
Don't let the lack of support of the ones immediately next to you deter you from your goals. You never know as you succeed they may jump back on the band wagon. In the end you have to do it for yourself. I am trying to get those around me into it too. But its easier to change myself than anyone else.
So just believe in yourself and know that we all believe in you.
Thank you everyone for your support! I was feeling as though I couldn't do this at all, but I got a wonderful, but shocking, surprise today! I've lost 10 pounds!
Just when I thought it wasn't working, I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks for all the love and support!
Ciao,
Nessa
