Hello, I have finally decided that I cannot lose weight alone and I need help. I joined calorie count a year ago and never used it. I did manage to lose about 35 pounds last year, but hit a plateau and went on vacation and sort of gave up. Then my husband was fired and I really went down hill fast. (As in worse than normal emotional eating) He has a job now and I am feeling not so depressed and I am tired of being overweight. I have realized that I cannot do this by myself and since I am a loner type (I am afraid of people hurting me so I just keep my walls up) I figure that since this is sort of anonymous, I can't be emotionally hurt and can unload my true feelings. Anyway, if there is anyone out there willing to listen, I would appreciate it. Thank you

Of course, I'll be your friend! That's what this site is all about girl, helping each other out!!! You've done a good thing by just asking.
What are your goals? What kind of exercise are you doing?

Hi Anne ~ welcome back! {{{friends}}} made a world of difference for me... changed my life... and are the reason i'm still here and still trying instead of quitting when i got discouraged...
Do you know about the journals and how to add friends? There is actually more talking in the journals between friends than here on the forums...
to friend people you share something in common... or want to be friends with... click on their name in the forums and that will take you to their profile where you will find a link by their name to add them as a friend. that's also how you can get to a link to see their journal.... or their pictures. it is kind of customary to mention or ask when you friend. I've added you as a friend ~ hope you don't mind... :)
to create a journal entry, click on the journal link at the top of any of the community forum pages, points ^ up... see the forums, journal, friends, profile and pictures links? remember you can always lock your journals to friends only... otherwise your journal can be read by anyone here or visiting...
when you edit or create your profile, there's a box at the bottom you can check to keep your profile and journal from being searched by search engines (googled)...
to see all of your friends journal entries, click on the friends link on the community pages (points ^ up) (next to journal and profile, etc...
hope this helps!
oh yeah, you can see a list of who you've added as a friend or who as added you as a friend on your profile page... which is also where you can see a list of the most recent posts you've made...
cheers,

United is right - everyone is here for everyone! You will get out of this what you put in it!
It almost brought tears to my eyes to see such a fast response. No, I don't mind being on your friends list,united2gether, or on anyone's friend list. It is heartening to know that even without knowing a thing about me, you guys would offer. Thank you all. I just started with a journal and I think that it will help me a lot with sorting out my feelings. And instead of coming home from work and stuffing my face, I can come to my computer and vent!!!!!!! A whole lot better outlet for my emotions, eh???? As far as goals go, I would like to lose 80 pounds. I was going to the Y and using the elliptical and lifting weights and that is what I am going to start again. I also have a rebounder here at home (a mini trampoline) I liked the step classes that I took years ago, but I am not sure if I can work them in but I will give it a go also.
Yes! When you are comfortable with it, maybe fill out your profile so we all can know a little about you but only when you are ready.
It is great you have made the decision to be healthier! I hope you find what you need here.

anne, it's way better to come here, and get the support that will help you make good choices about eating healthy, and taking care of yourself. and it is anonymous if you want it to be. or you can share more of yourself and find loads of friends who have something in common with you. good luck!!
In my opinion, I think that you should add a little more to your profile. I feel more at home and more connected when I see not just words on the screen, but real people, with real problems and real accomplishments who are just like me. And others who are nothing like me but have their own set of things to deal with. This is especially comforting since no one around me at home or otherwise deals with the weight issues that I do. And at my job, it just wouldn't be appropriate.
I am somewhat new to the site having stumbled on it entirely by accident at the end of December, nevertheless; I love it. The first month (January, 2007), I mostly observed. Once February came, I joined a no alcohol challenge for the month of February and I am proud to say that I have done it. For March, I will be involved in an exercise challenge for 1000 minutes. I am looking forward to it.
Another interesting motivator is a particular forum started Feb. 23, 2007 09:24 by deejlb. I was very motivated by her idea. She took pictures of herself at the beginning of 30 days and at the end of 30 days. She put the images side by side to see the results after 30 days. She plans to do it again after 60 and 90 days as well. I think I will do that as well. Do you notice that when you start losing other people notice but when you look in the mirror you can hardly see the results? If you post the pictures side by side, you can see the noticeable difference. I think this idea serves as a visual diary so you know your effort is working and helps to keep you motivated. Take a look at her before and after photos. It?s great.
Well good luck to you and hang in there!

I just joined yesterday but I feel the same way! I would love to have people to talk to about things on here! Feel free to add me =D
Hi. I'm brand new at this, but I know the power of friendship, especially friendships between women.
I'm the only overweight person in my family and among my friends. It's isolating. Also, I am now of an age that weight doesn't come off easily AND should I complete my goal, I wonder if I'll look better or just older and saggy.
I could use a friend, too.

~ waves hello to everyone ~ welcome! gr8 2 meet you :)
Hey Anne! I'm all up for support and lending an ear now and then. I find using my journal really helps a lot. Just to get things off my chest or just to be silly. I highly recommend it. Plus, I love reading my friends journals and commenting in them too. And I just friended you... so c'mon, entertain me! ;o) Just kidding.
Nice to meet you!

karenleek - thanks for that journal and friends info. I've been here for over a month and haven't figured out how that works. Good to know!
annejiles - I'm making you a friend! I love chatting during the day b/c I'm often at my desk. Sounds like you're on the right track. Make sure you come here and post when you're having rough days too. That's when this has been the most helpful to me.
