I need a good nighttime/after dinner snack....

I need to fulfill my 1200-1300 calorie quota for the day and am looking for a healthy evening snack... I have heard that complex carbs are a good bet, but what about a banana, or.....? Does a whole grain piece of toast (50 calories) with 1-2 tsp (35-70 calories) of peanut butter work?

bananas are filling and healthy, but they're also a really good energy source; which is good.. but maybe not the best thing to eat right before you plan to sleep. if your sleep cycle gets disturbed easily, you might want to avoid anything with caffiene or sugar just to be on the safe side.

you could have some oatmeal, it's filling, healthy and won't disturb your sleep at all. just watch what you add to it.

the toast/pb combo sounds good too.

you could also try air-popped popcorn, rice cakes, some sort of veggie or a glass of milk.

i'm not really a night eater (i can't sleep on a full stomach) so i probably wasn't that much help, sorry!

A combination of fibre and protein is probably the most satisfying.   Wholegrain toast and peanut butter is a good choice.   Bananas are fine.  I rather like vegetable sticks with some hummus dip.   A little plain yoghurt with some honey and chopped nuts.  Or you could try rough oatcakes with something on top like cottage cheese.
Bananas dipped in Chamomile tea does it for me...

Soooo good.

this is one of my faves for ideas for a snack...hope this helps

I suggest warm milk with a tsp of honey and if you use 2% thats about 160 calories right there. How many calories are you looking to fill?

normally i like to make some cottage cheese mixed with fiber one. or tonight i had some of the kashi 7 grain pilaf puff cereal with some almond breeze. add cinnamon and splenda. pretty tasty
