burn 2200 - 2400
Im not sure what's my BMR
PLEASE HELP, and no is not time of the month.
Oh, thats so discourging. I'm sorry you're struggling so much. Have you tried writing down everything you eat to be sure of your calorie intake? Or maybe you need to shock you system by eating a larger meal???
Keep working hard and don't give up.
Your BMR is about 1400, so you should be fine at 1500-1700. Are you sure you're counting everything right?
How much do you exercise? If your burn is 2400 you must be doing hard exercise 6-7 days per week.
2000 - light exercise 1-3 days/week
2200 - light/moderate exercise 3-5 days/week
You shouldn't be gaining at these levels, in any case. However, keep in mind that the scale lies. It varies from day to day. It depends on what you wear. And TTOM is really an all-month cycle, so your weight will vary throughout.
How often do you weigh? Do you weigh consistently at the same time of day, wearing the same clothes, on the same scale?
I know that when I first tried dieting, I guestimated I was eating about 1500 calories, but when I actually wrote down *everything* it was more like 2000. I keep reading in magazines about how people often underestimate how much they eat. Especially after you've lost some weight you figure you know what you're doing now, or that you can cheat a little bit and before you know it you're no longer losing. So write down everything and check labels to be sure you're eating what you think. You may even need to measure your serving sizes if you think you're eating "about 2 cups of pasta" and in reality you're eating more. I know that that's what happens to me. But if you really are only eating that little, then you shouldn't be gaining and you may need to find out from your dr if you have a condition like hypothyroid.
thanks everyone for your replies. I weight once a week at the same scale/time in the morning, after using the bathroom in my underwear. i workout 5 - 6 days a week, cardio 45 - 60 min everytime and 2 -3 weight training class a week for 1 hr. when i log my weight training class it's over 500 cals, maybe is not that much that im burning in those classes
Kathleen i think you are right about underestimating my portion, i will have to be more careful about that.
right now i feel like giving up, i feel that everything that im doing is right but is not working for me anymore.
The same thing happened to me, I thought it would go away but the weight stayed and I haven't lost any since then. that was like a month ago I think.
Hey Sulma, I'm just checking in with you to see how you're doing today. Your workouts sound good. You're working out more than I am, which is awesome! I worry about you getting burned out from working out that much, but keep it up as long as you can. Maybe if it gets to be too much, you can taper it down to an hour a day.
Since you're exercising so well, maybe the problem is your food intake then? Or maybe it's just going to take time for your body to want to give up that fat. Just be patient, I think you're doing everything right and your body can only fight it for so long!
Try changing up your workout routines and also what you are eating. It's not only the calories - it's what those calories are coming from. I lose much faster if I eat 1400 calories from low-fat protein, fruits and veggies as opposed to processed carbs-type foods. Those 100 calorie cookie packages were not doing me any good. Good luck!
If you are working out quite a bit, gaining muscle, it may only be muscle weight.
Remember, muscle may take up less room than fat, but it weighs much more.
If you've gained inches or sizes, then you may be doing something wrong, or the foods you're eating don't work well for you o.O'
Try using measuring cups and spoons to measure each of your portions, and if you're unsure, it's better to guess that you've eaten a little more than you really did.
thanks everyone, i ordered a food scale on friday i should get it today. i stayed away from here and the gym all weekend, i was feeling really down. but im here today ready to start all over again, im not going to give up.
Skyeskye: it most be muscle i have been working out this hard for the last 3 months and my jeans that use to fit me perfect they are now falling of my ass so i guess that is a good sign, but still i want to see lower numbers.
Im going to Jamaica in 7 weeks and i would love to be 150lbs by then, last week i was 158.8lbs. I know for sure that TOTM is this week so i will not get on the scale this week.
Kathleen-i, im feeling much better today, thank u so much for checking on me.
you'll do fine. just watch our portion control and don't exercise that much. Sometimes taking a walk for 40-45 muinutes is just fine.
I restricted calories for 9 months in 2007 but lost no weight. I was pretty sure it was a plateau from undereating and overexercising, but when I looked at the body fat percentage numbers recently, I discovered I lost 6 lbs of fat and gained 6 lbs of muscle! Woohoo!
So, yeah -- it can happen. :-)
i got on the scale this morning just being curious but also thinking 160lbs cause is TOTM week but no i was surprised scale read 156.2lbs,
now my question is should i believe that? i was so disapointed last week, that i dont know if i should believe my scale anymore.
Thanks
Hello SULMA,
First of all I'd like to say congratulations on deciding to lose weight and doing something about it. Don't get discouraged about your weight loss or lack there of. Unfortunately on here you can't see each other's food logs so I'm just going to ask a couple of questions.
How much water are you drinking?
What are your percentages of Carbs/proteins/fat?
I'd also like to add some words of encouragement, I started out at 160 and I'm now 140 and maintaining, so you can do it. It wasn't always easy and I hit a major plateau when I was 7 pounds away from my goal for over a month. At that time I found out I need to "low carb" it and raise my protein intake and my calorie intake by about 200. You shouldn't be at starvation mode but you can never tell until you try to switch it up. As far as what to believe as far as your weight I say keep weighing yourself same time/scale/clothes(or no clothes lol) you'll see some more progress.
Hi, amayou82
I think i drink too much water, i have a 32oz sport bottle. i drink 3 -32oz at work and 2-32oz at the gym. i try my best to keep it at or at least close to 25p/25f/50c, some days carbs are kind of high, maybe i need to work on that
The protein fat and carb combo sounds good, and is very close to what most articles and whatnot i have read say is good.
The water does sound like a lot, but you are very active so maybe you should ask your doctor about it? I know that getting too much water can be bad for you but am not sure if that is too much and am not sure how it would effect your weight loss. If you just started drinking this amount around the time you gained the 4 lbs, then it may just be the water weight showing. However if you ahve always drank that much water it may be something else.
My guess is that your body is just building up muscle (as you are doing weights quite heavily) and you will continue to see loss in a few weeks. (I see you lost about 2lbs this week if that is any indicator.)
Good luck !!
How often should you eat during the day?
It is neither necessary to eat every two hours nor to stop eating at 6:00 PM. As long as your calorie intake is less than your output... Read more
