Need help deciding my activity level. Please!!
I'm not that new to this site, but recently I have been doubting the burn meter. I have my activity level set to light, but I think maybe I should adjust it and then add in my exercise. This is important, because I try to keep a 1,000 calorie deficit and I don't want to be underestimating or overestimating it.
I am a 19 year old college student..my routine is: I usually get up in the morning do a light aerobic type work out with stretches and sit ups and but exercises along with lifting some 5 pound weights for about 25 minutes. Then I walk to campus which is only about 2 blocks away (takes me aprox. 5-10 min) and sit on my but in class. Then after my classes I walk to the gym and work out and then walk home which is only a few blocks away(takes me aprox. 5-10 min). Then I usually study and eat lunch and pack my dinner and go to work where I sit in an office. I work in a office with a door and have to get up a lot to answer the door, but am sitting down most of the time. On my lunch break, if i dont have homework to do, I will go outside and walk around.
Edit: I do my morning work out and go to the gym 5 times a week. The other two days I do a pilates video or a cardio video.
So should I set my activity level to sedentary and then just add in what I burn off at the gym...or keep it at light and add in what i burn off at the gym. Any advice would be Awesome!! Thank you
I would say your are light if not close to moderate. Are you still losing regularly? Your definitely not sedentary. I lose quicker when my deficit is 500-700 cals a day... just a thought!
haha yeah..but its ok. i think I sort of plateaued, but I'm trying to up my calories, because I was only doing 1300, but now im trying 1400-1500. I will keep my burn meter set to light. I probably move around more than I think I do..I just feel like Im always sitting down. haha. thank you for your reply!!
I think you should keep it sedentary.
I admire the way u try ur best to keep moving.
Keep up the good work!
I asked a question about how many calories I should be eating, and didn't get an answer either hehe. Maybe too many people have asked the same question?
Anyway, my burn meter was telling me that I was burning 3000 calories. I had it set to vigorous, AND I added in my workouts. Eeek...so ya I was a tad bit over my real burn lol ![]()
Now I put in Sedentary and add anything that I do which burns more than like..10 calories
I put in walking around at school, walking the dog, grocery shopping. It all adds up. I feel like this gives me a much more accurate burn meter. I read several posts and journals of people who do this too. I would definitely recommend doing that, unless someone has a good reason why you shouldn't.
Cmama, thank you for the post about losing more on 500-700 cals a day. That is EXACTLY what I was looking for with my other post ![]()
