How did you stop binging once and for all?
I know its a gradual process, how did you do it?
Also, how did you stop binging once you started?
I feel like I've tried treating myself regularly with non-trigger desserts and even with trigger foods. And have tried restricting all my trigger foods.
I have also tried not restricting after binges (ex: Binged after lunch, and still ate dinner... and carried on with my regular meals the next day normally.)
Also, I am no longer in dieting mode, lately I've been eating/aiming for 2000 calories.
But at the end of everything, I am still a binger. I proved that much too well last night. (Yes I feel guilty, and I want to drown everyone with the massive list, [over 5000+ calories] of things I ate, but I'm sure nobody wants to hear about it)
But nothing seems to work for me. I've been fighting this issue for a while. HOW did you do it :( :(
try eating more food, more than 2000.
youre hungry, youre starving, youre underweight, your body is asking for more food.
eat more and the desire to "binge" will stop.
So you're telling me I should do nothing now and just keep allowing myself to binge uncontrollably on unhealthy foods until i become overweight?
Cause how will the binge desire stop on its own? Its just going to become a horrible cycle that I am solidifying with each time.
Do you have any other helpful advice other than stalking all my posts and telling me to eat more?
Sorry, I don't mean to come off snotty, but I do welcome any helpful advice :)
I just need some solutions to stop binging right now, its not healthy for me mentally either.
Agru's point is that, at so low a weight you should be eating more than 2000. This is likely a sign your body wants more. Yes, eating 5000~ calories isn't a good trend either but so is eating too little. Especially if you are active; the general good guideline to gain and restore metabolism to working order when underweight is 2500 calories. Sedentary.
Have you tried seeing if your binges are caused by an emotion or a trigger outside of food?
thank you LALA, good clarification.
youll stop binging most likely if you sufficiently feed your body.
if the binges are fueled by emotion then perhaps you need to think about seeing someone about this.
WEll I dont know how old you are, height, etc...
But maybe like a diet of 1800 cals with some good exercise in there...
drink tons of WATER, always always have gum stashed EVERYWHERE...drink tea!!!
Try and think about what you are doing while you are eating or before you go and get your binge food..as hard as that is...
And yes you definitly dont want this too go on any longer trust me!!!!The longer the goes the worse the results get, such as depressiong, rapid weight gain, isolationg, anger at everyone, etc etc
Eat soups, salads, stuff that you can eat lots of but not worry bout the after effect
so yeah the sooner you get through this the better, maybe talk to someone about it?
For one week try eating 2,500 calories WITHOUT exercise and without guilt. See how it goes. Make sure every meal has some form of carbs, protein and fat. Good Luck. :)
eat carbs and fibre. i'm just recovering myself and back on track. I've been eating rice all my life but stopped when I was dieting and ended up eating anything and everything else after a month.
Cereals like sunnybisk, cheerios, cornflakes are low in cals. pour 250-300ml milk and filled it to the max with cereal. It'll keep you till lunch time and keep your calories in check.
Plenty of pasta and rice and kinda stuff helps. After 2 weeks or so your body will be fine.
Yesterday I had a sore throat and ate 2 packs of tunes. Didnt realise it was a laxative!!
lol. but today my body is rid of toxins and I don't feel like eating chocolates. I had some but i didnt enjoy it. Yay for me! lolz
Im not making a lot of sense lately but i hope it helps. gud luck
I just remmebered: Hartley's jelly is about 8cals per pot!! keep them around and apparently its filling for a while and take care your sweet tooth.
There was ths guy who lost over 100lbs! he ate jelly and something else and worked out like crazy. I'm not saying its healthy or suggest you do it but it just goes to show that jelly is filling as a snck.
Plus if you binge it won't be that bad. you could eat 50 in a day (if you are bingeing) and its only 400cals, compared to 3000 if it was chocolates. Also keep beatifully coloured low cal foods on the table eg fruits so everytime you want to eat thats what you're going to eat.
Juice is very ood too. Robinsons ones.
I am the king of binge eating. For me, it doesn't matter what food is around, I tend to binge on it. healthy, junk, etc. it doesn't matter. I eat healthy, but eat too many portions.
Something that has been proven to work for me is to keep a log. It's easy after the first or second week. When I keep a log, I can see my past actions. It's important to write everythig you eat down, including water. I am getting back into logging it on this web site. Looking back at the log allows me to remember why I binged. When it's time for the next binge, I remember and it helps fight of the binge on most occassions.
Lastly, I have discovered how to have controlled binges. I will binge on edamame, popcorn or veggies. I get full and still have the guilty feeling but without the negative physical results.
I binged every day, and the main things that helped me recover were:
Learning to feed my body enough calories with the right amount from each food group ( protein, fats, and carbohydrates)
I started at the recommended guidelines and then I altered it to see what worked best for me
Our bodies are all so different and one set of guidelines will not be best for every one, so you need to START with a good enough of calories using basic guidelines for protein/fat/and carbohydrates, and then once you are feeling your body enough food regularly, you should experiment to see the ideal amount of carbohydrates/ protein, and fats works best for YOUR body.
Basically, if you are giving your body enough of what it needs then you will not feel the physical urge to binge.
You may still have emotional triggers, but without the physical urges it will be MUCH easier to get the rest under control
Hope this helps
I stopped bingeing in February. I read Jean Antonello's books. She outlines how to do it. She is a former binger who has been both anorexic and overweight. She explains why you binge from a physiological standpoint, and once you grasp that you'll never want to diet again. She has a website called Naturally-Thin, so you can google it and read what it is all about.
