Need help with finding jewlery...

Quote  |  Reply

Hi all,

My one year anniversary is coming up soon and I would really like to get my girlfriend a simple gemstone necklace.  I'm looking for something that is white gold with either a sapphire, ruby, or deep green emerald gemstone in it.  I would prefer to purchase it online as I live in NYC and jewlers are extremely expensive out here.  Does anyone know of good sites where i can look for a good quality necklace?  Also keep in mind that I just graduated college and i'm not exactly wealthy at the moment.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

The first that springs to mind for me is http://www.etsy.com/ as I know there are some higher quality jewellery makers in there. However, prices can be... well, pricey! Take a look, though, the selection is broad.

What is the limit on how much you want to  spend?

While it may seem low, I am trying to find something for under $300 if possible.  I don't buy jewlery very often, so i'm not sure how realistic this is...

Great!

Log on to www.jcpenney.com     I would always buy jewelry  from them. They have an outlet store with some really good deals.

Blue nile has real nice jewelry. It is very simple and very pretty.

You would be surprised, Tiffany's actually has a lot of really well priced sterling silver necklaces.  You can search by price range.  Every girl loves to receive a little blue box.  :)  They have some very simple stuff, that is very nice.

For example:

Also, I second bluenile.  I like the solitaire gemstone pendants, like the aquamarine or blue topaz.

Oh have I got the website for you, go to www.ice.com, they run specials constantly and you can get some pretty hot stuff for around what you're looking to spend. I live pretty close to the city too and there's no way my budget would ever let me step foot in any of those jewelry stores. Good luck! I'm sure she'll love whatever you get her.

I LOVE ETSY!!!!! Such a fun site!

overstock.com!

Thank you all for the great advice!  I'll take a look at all of them when i get a second.  Again, everything is much appreciated.

www.jewelsforme.com

Awesome site. You can choose what you want, online, and they ship it to you already gift wrapped with a little teddy (at least, my ring was when they shipped it to me!).

Relatively cheap, and great service.

Try Bidz.com, the jewellry auction.

You may hear some negatives about it, but I have personally spent over $2000 and bought around 100 pieces.  I have had much of it appraised by my local jeweller and it's all come in SUBSTANTIALLY higher than what I paid. (Like the emerald earrings and necklace for a little less than $100 that appraised at over $700!! and the diamond earrings for $360 that appraised at a little over $2500)

They have every price range from costume jewellry for a few bucks to pieces over $20k.

At least check it out.  And feel free to let me know what you think.

Good luck with whichever seller you use and congrats on the event.

i second the tiffany.com response. tiffanys is classic and timeless. your girlfriend will love it without a doubt.

So dreporto did you find a sparkly for your beloved?

My anniversary is real soon (days away) also, very excited.
