ugghhh ok so i think i have a problem.

i started out 2 years ago as 140 pounds 5'4 - measurements 36DD/30waist/40 hips....

now i'm 107 pounds 5'4 measurements 31DD/24waist/31 hips.....

i was trying to maintain at 114 pounds.....and i keep loosing weight to act as a buffer i guess because i'm so scared i'm going to go back to my weight before...i run everyday...lift weights... i'm scared i'm going to lose my period.

I really need help...how do you maintain? how do i get over this fear of going back to my original weight - how often should i weigh myself?

runner you have in previous posts expressed some worrying comments. I think you have a serious problem here; you acknowledge that you cannot stop exercising, you are losing and have now a dangerously low bmi....

i think you should call your dr. right away and speak to them about what is wrong.

over exercising is a form of bulimia, and i dont want to say you have anorexia but this is a very slippery slope and you fulfil many of the criteria for an anorexia diagnosis.

good luck, and nip this in the bud before it gets any worse

No one on this website will support you if your mission is to maintain 107 lbs at your height.

Obsessive exercise is dangerous, and it is not necessary for you to look toned/fit/thin. 30 minutes most days along with some form of resistance (low rep high weight/and or high repetitions/lower weights as in body pump classes) is enough.

I am not trying to feed your obsession, I am telling you that you should cut back because it is not physically necessary to do that much exercise, however, 30 minutes walking outside most days along with regular toning exercises 2 - 3 times a week would be enough to be lean and eliminate unnecessary fat.

At your current weight, you could be too fragile to do even the minimum amount of exercise, and you are definitely damaging your body by excessively exercising at such a low weight; technically, you are stressing your body and any extra exercise you do is actually preventing your body from ever being strong enough to reach your potentials. Obsessively exercising is LIMITING your strength and capacity to stay fit! Your body is damaged, therefore it cannot perform optimally until you give it adequate rest.

I can assure you, I went from being about your current weight and over exercising, to cutting back, gaining a little weight, and I still have a toned and fit body.

You need to learn that you CAN eat and exercise normally, and still accept the way that you look.

Speaking from experience, the first step for you to take is to make a doctors appointment to deal with the issues associated with gaining a little weight; from your post, you sound like you need a therapist to deal with your obsessive exercise, and your desire to maintain a weight that is too low; as well as your fear of weight gain.

Explore every possible way to afford this essential care if you feel you cannot; there is usually some sort of assistance available

In the meantime, try to envision a happy, stress free way that you want to be able to live your life; do you WANT your happy ness to be determined by what you weigh?

Life will be much better if you can learn to accept being slightly heavier, and to also accept that you can learn to feel slim, fit, and healthy at this higher weight.

I am not the expert, so I cannot tell you the ideal weight for your body or the amount of calories you will need to gain weight to reach this weight, although 2500 calories appears to be the minimum.

The way to lead your happiest life is to accept a weight that is sustainable and natural for your body; you cannot dictate the weight you will feel happiest; trying to control your weight is what will make you the MOST unhappy.

If you eat healthily and learn to exercise normally, you will naturally look your best; you should not aim for a specific number.

thanks for the advice.

i totally agree i need to make a doctors appointment......

my problem is whenever i try to "gain weight" i find the change in my diet is overwhelming.  it would be nice if i could just transition into a new lifestyle where i weight 115 pounds (or whatever weight is healthy) and could just eating and exercise healthily.  I find the transition extremely hard.  the idea of eating excessively scares me.
