I've been overweight now for 8 years & I'm always talking about losing weight & buying every book, journal, etc etc but I can never stick to it. I actually journaled for a whole week last week and lost 3.4 lbs but then my hubby's birthday was this weekend so I fell off the wagon. I'm so sick of getting in my own way. I just had my first baby and she's almost 4 months old and I have about 80 lbs to lose. I love this site because it says I can be to my goal by Sept 2010 losing about 1.5 lbs per week and I WANT so badly to be successful & reach this  goal. It's a long, long road & I know I need to take it one day at a time, but it's just so easy to fall off the wagon & get off track. My goal is to lose weight every week even it's it's a 10th of a lb, but the way this week as started I might gain weight & that worries me that I'll give up all together. Why is it sooooo hard. Why do I have to love food so much... I am in pajama bottoms most of the time b/c I never want to get dresed in real clothes. I hate going out b/c I hate trying to figure out what to wear. I don't want my daughter who's just a baby now to grow up with me being miserable and not enjoying life to the fullest b/c of my weight. I need to find a support group with this website to help keep me on track. Other stories are a big help and I look forward to hopefully making some friends here. Sorry to go on & on, I think I'm just writing to vent to myself. I feel like such a failure all of the time & don't want my goal date to get here in Sept 2010 and still be this weight!

If you give your stats, ( height, weight, age, activity leve,etc) someone may be able to help you better.

Finding freinds writing in my and journal has really helped me. I have lost 10 lbs my first month here! Just focus on getting your plans/goals together and learnign as much as you can, and be proud of yourself for taking this step. Try to enjoy the process instead of worrying about all the mistakes. We ALL make them. This is a lifetime journey.

First well done on losing over 3lb in your first week.  Dont be so hard on yourself - you have a new baby and thing can be difficult at that time - even getting dressed and out the house!

Like you, I eat a bit more at the weekends and know I will put a bit back on, but overall the trend is downwards and thats what will matter in the long run.  Dieting shouldnt make you feel miserable - it is just controling what you put in your mouth.  Its normal to be hungry sometimes so allow it to happen.

I think your target of Sept 2010 is too far away to mean much.  Break it down into smaller 'chunks' and aim for those. Say lose 10lb in 8 weeks.  Set a date - make a chart - hang it on the fridge - fill it in.   Dont buy junk food.  Eat lots of fruit/veg and eat healthy whole foods.  Be in control 80% of the time and you will do it.  Good luck.
