I really need help

I am gaining not losing weight. I don't know were to start. I use to be on the Adkins diet and lost so much weight but of couse within 2 years I gained it all back plus some.

I don't know how to even do a calorie diet. What is good what is bad I don't know were to start. I am a lot older now my back and both legs are bad so I can't walk.

I went to the store the other day and tried on some tops I left there crying I am just so discusted with my self and my body. I need help.

Under tools there is a button called: calorie target. Click on it. This asks you your age, amount of physical activity, gender, height your current weight, your goal weight and it will tell you how many calorie to born. It does it for you! There is the Ask MAry questions where you can ask her questions and your question might already have been answered and you can see right there. There are also exercise browsers that show you good exercises and how many calories they burn. Join some groups and look through topics to find stories similar to yours,or post a topic to write in your journal where people can reply and help you(such as I'm doing). Good luck!

It's really a lot easier than most people realize.  What I told my brother when he first started showing interest in losing weight was to just start counting everything he was eating.  Not to change anything the first week or so, just to get an idea of what he was getting on a daily basis.  That can be pretty eye-opening.  Just go for a good balance, you know?  Plenty of fiber (30ish grams a day, but if you aren't anywhere near that, ease into it for the love of Pete), watch the saturated fat and sodium--or just watch the calories.  

Most importantly, you don't have to give up everything you love to lose weight.  And you may find you regain some mobility as you become healthier--I hope you do.  I don't know what your current mobility level is, but if you have a local pool (the one at my gym has a lift for people who are in wheelchairs and I live in the middle of God's good nowhere), you can float around in the water, maybe swim a little.  There's also water aerobics.  Hard work with zero impact and no balance worries.  Fail that, there are plenty of excercises which can be done in a chair.  sitandbefit.org is a good place to start.

Yo might find more support and help in the weight loss forum :) the weight gain forum is for people TRYING to gain weight. A lot of us are recovering from an eating disorder, or just have a fast metabolism.

I really didn't mean for it to come across that way! I'm sorry. I was just trying to explain bc I got the impression the OP thought the weight gain forum was for people who gained weight they didn't want to. Because before I started recovery and posting here I never knew that some people had trouble gaining, and if I hadn't read around first, probably would have thought the forum was for unwanted weight gain!

I know how you feel Lynn.  But, I do know that counting calories works.  I was doing really really good, walking everyday, eating right everyday, but then my walking partner, my dog, got lame, and the walks stopped.  I have noticed that my back is bothering me again and I know I need to get out there and get busy again, so, how about us doing it together since my dog copped out on me?  Tell me about yourself?  What state are you in?  I'm in New York myself, upstate, far from the city.  Let's do it together~~~
