Need Help

Quote  |  Reply
I am new to this sight and I am searching for something that will work for me.  I now weigh what I did 13 years ago the day I gave birth to my  first and only child.  I feel like such a loser because I just can not stay motivated to lose weight.  I start out good then by mid week I am slipping.  I tell myself, ok we will start over tomorrow.  Is there anyone out there that can relate.  How do I overcome this destructive behavior trait.

I just posted something similiar to this. you know take it one day at a time. make a journal online or write it out and everytime you feel down write. Later go back and analyze. I am sure ur motivated ur  just probably feeling bad for not doing something about ur weight earlier. ur child is all the motivation that  u need. I hope u find here what u need. I am here if u want to chat!. take care!

Thank you for your support.  I have started exercising, I joined Curves, which is a switch for me I have never excercised and I like it.  I just have a hard time sticking to anything.  I am not lazy, I work, raise a family do all the things most women do on a daily basis.  My problem I love food and it takes priority over just about everything else.  I eat then I feel guilty for being so weak.  I will start keeping a journal and see if there is a pattern to my eatting and motivation.  Thank again.
You could try making a short term goal loss...may 5 or 10 pounds and of course take it 1 day and 1 pound at a time. What might help is writing in the dietlog that is available when you feel like you want to munch on something that isn't healthy...better yet take that stuff out of your house. You can't have what is not there.  You will need a lot of support and this place is SUPER supportive. You can come on here and whine, question or just rant about your frusterations and we ARE here to listen, suggest and motivate. You can do this...you are already doing it by coming here and asking for help.

Good luck,

Cyndy
Thats awesome that u joined curves, this proves like u said its not about being lazy. U know we always say we love food and in that sence I think we are wrong I know I always used that saying but in reality it was that I loved eating with my husband. Or going to eat with friends. It was the time spent or cooking for family to feel some sort of validation knowing they loved the food. so it was more of the setting for me.  think about that. but I am happy for u! how is ur food intake?

Well I am up to 312 calories today.  I had grapes and peanut butter and cheese crackers.  I forgot my cereal at home this morning I think that is why I am snacking.  I agree with Cyndya that if I remove the temptation I will not eat it.  Therefore, I am taking the crackers out of my Office and giving them to my secreatry for safe keeping.  I can tell this is going to be a good place for me. :)
that was a smart idea.. getting rid of the crackers!  also, you are at the right place!  we are (if i do say so myself) a great group of people.. :)
Hey Bejay -

I'm reading between the lines here, so I might be way off base.  I get the feeling that you are a professional, goal oriented person.  I have to have a goal in mind in order to keep myself working - I have to be working *toward* something concrete - "getting healthy" while what I want is too ambiguous for me.

So - here's what I've got going -

I'm working with a friend (ok - she's not holding up her end of the bargain quite yet, but even so)

at a combined 5% weight loss we went for double pedicures

at a combined 10% weight loss we're going to Las Vegas for a girl's weekend - no hubby - no kids

I weigh myself once a week for an official weigh-in - was doing Thursday, but think I'll move it to Friday and then I log it here - seeing that line drop is the best thing in the world.

For every 5 pounds gone I've gotten myself a treat (new clothes, new cookbook, household stuff, computer game).

Wow - I got totally off the subject here, didn't I?  Oops - oh well, maybe some of these will help anyway.
Hey bejay, if you create a profile then you can start a friends list and people can add you to their friends list.

Hey bejay, been there.  I'm 5'2 and in 2001 I weighed 215 and a size 20 my highest and I'd just had a baby.  It took me 2yrs to get to my goal of 140 and I kept it off until now.  As of the last 2yrs it's been creeping back up now I'm at a size 14.  I've started back as of last month with the smallest thing.  Maybe you can give it a try.  But first I don't weigh myself, toooooo depressing.  I go by my clothes and my shoes, my shoes you ask...because I'm a shoe fanatic.  I moved here from DC 2yrs ago and I got a mover because of my shoes.  I sold and gave away and still had shoes.

Anyway, I'm walking 5 days a week. M,W, Thurs, 30min walks. T, F, 40min walks and I don't eat fastfood, junk, or fried foods until saturday but by then I don't want any.  It will be hard but try it for a day and if you make it pass 1day go for the next day.  It is hard getting back into things because AZ has so much food around here, but it got easier as the days passed.  Oh also, since I go to bed by 10:00pm I stop eating by 7:00pm.

If this is not too much for you, you can email me anytime @ sugarshoes33@yahoo.com for some support.

By the way I'm a 39yr old single mother and getting out to walk is hard sometimes, that's why I incorporate my routine in at my work place by walking my lunch hour.

Good luck.
