I need Help!!!

Quote  |  Reply

Hello everyone:) I am new to this so please bare with me. I am 5'7" and weigh 160. I have been working out 5 days a week and only consuming 1600 calories. I have only lost 4lbs in the past 3 weeks. I can not tell much of a difference in my body at all. How long does it take? Is there anything else I could be doing?

My Workout consist of:

Monday-Friday: Run on treadmill at 5mph for 15min, walk at 3mph for 30min, work out on exercise ball for 30min doing various activities, and then I lift 5lb weights for 15 doing various activities.

I am just not seeing the results that I thought I would by now. I really would like to lose somewhere between 20-25lbs. HELPPPPPPPPP:)

Angel

4 pounds in three weeks is a pretty good rate.  Remember to loose a pound you have to have a 3500 calorie deficit, but also bear in mind that your weight can fluctuate, even throughout the day.  I say keep doing what you're doing!
How much water are you drinking and are your calories balanced?  Are you getting A's and B's for nutritional value?

Nevertheless, 1.33 lbs per week is amazing and healthy.  You could be turning a lot of fat into muscle which - as has been said - weighs more than fat.

Keep up the excellent work!  Keep in mind, losing 4 lbs is 4 lbs less than you weighed three weeks ago!  That's still a great accomplishment.
Caitling is right, 4 pounds in three weeks IS pretty good. 1-2 pounds a week is a nice healthy way to to it. I know it seems slow, but keep up what your doing and you'll get to where you want to be. If you want to have a high burn in calories I recommend any Tae-Bo tapes you get your hands on and be patient with them! It took me at least a month to get the moves right, and it burns over 500 calories in an hour!
Don't expected to magically lose 30 pounds over a couple of weeks.  Though we all hope that is how it works.  Your doing great.  Keep up the good work.  You Rock!

Losing weight slowly is the way to go.  A pound or half pound a week is about right.  The reason I am saying this is that at some point you reach your goal weight.  If you have done that with a diet that is depriving you of a great deal, then it will be impossible to maintain your new weight without maintaining the extreme deprivation.  If you get to the goal weight by making changes here and there that you are able to get used to and keep for a lifetime, you will be successful at maintaining your new weight.  Any diet in which you lose weight quickly is a deprivation diet.  Over-exercising can also cause problems like stress fractures and muscle tears.  Moderation and patience are the big keys.
What a great thread!!!

Angel, we all wish there was a way to get the results that those rip-U-off infomercials talk about. However, there is no short cut to a healthy diet and exercise.

You have chosen the right path!!! Keep up the good work. We are all pulling for you.

Best Regards, NuBiker
I think that is a good weight loss. I think slower loss is better long term. You want to make a realistic lifestyle change. If you diet to the extreme and work out like mad chances are the weight will come back when you realize you can't do something you hate long term. You don't have much to lose so I think it will come off a lot slower than someone who has a lot to lose.  Keep up the good work and it will keep comming off. You should be really proud of yourself.
I would just like to say thank you to everyone for their encouraging words. They really did help me out a lot. And on the plus side I lost another pound...YEAHHHHHHHH
