need help with my period :(

Quote  |  Reply

since ive been changing how i eat i skipped a period (which is VERY unusual for me) and then about 3-4 weeks later i came on and although its been VERY light most days it still hasnt stopped for about 2 months. this is just really annoying and im worried theres something wrong. i went to the doctors and she said to wait and see what happends but that was a few weeks ago now.

um also just to give an idea, i went from eating really badly to bareley eating and now to trying to eat 1500 calories per day with fruits and more variety of foods.

so yeah please can someone help!

 Thank you

1st Do you think Maybe you could be pregnant??

2nd I would go back to the Dr. And say you want answers You dont want to wait it out You want to know what the H is going on! Thats what id do!
You need to give us a little more information please, like your age, height and weight.  Also, what do you consider VERY light?  To me that would be a little blood stain when I pee, to others it might be more than that.  We will be more than happy to try to help you but need a little more to work with.

I know that your percentage of body fat has a lot to do with the regularity of your cycle.  It could just be that because of the changes in your eating habits your body has gotten "confused."  Still, two months is a long time to have gone without stopping.  I would go back to the doctor or find another one to go to.

i dont think im pregnant. i took a couple tests when i skipped my period but they were negatve.

im 18, about 5"7 and 196 pounds.

i think your 'definition' of very light is what i meant. it got a little heavier for a couple days last week but that was it

Are you on birth control?  Birth control can really throw off periods, even when you've been on the same birth control for a long time.

Also, when you say that you barely ate, what does that mean?

nah not on birth control, was planning on it until this happended.

and a few months ago i was waking up at about 4pm because of my inability to sleep so i was eating a small meal and maybe a snack after then nothing because it was night and i was depressed about sleep so food wasnt that appealing. i think i was eating between 300 and 600 calories a day

If you have only been eating 300 to 600 calories a day then your body is WAY out of whack!  You need 1200 a day minimum.  Your period is the first thing that goes when your diet is off.  If you added back calories suddenly - went from 600 to 1200 which would double what your body is used to - you may be "shedding" and that may be why the Dr is taking a wait and see attitude.  The heavier couple of days last week could have been your body trying to have a normal cycle.  Give it til the end of the week as long as you don't feel bad and if you are still bleeding call the Dr back.  He may have to do a D & C to clean you out and get your body back in a rythym.  I had to do that when I was in college, twice I think, because I went thru times where I forgot to eat or eat properly.  Bottom line is you must take care of yourself.  Let us know what happens!

and also will put out a post when i know more about whats happening!

its where they basically 'clean you out'. to be honest your better off searching it on google.

Usually brought on after a miscarriage. They make sure everything is out so you don't get an infection.

Your menstrual cycle will be all out of whack when your diet is out of whack. It happened to me when I was only eating 900 calories of less... (2 week long period). It also happens when you don't have a high fat percentage (like gymnists or anorexics generally don't have a period). Up your calorie intake and hopefully it will get back on track. Make sure you get at least 1200 a day (and you can zig zag it, some days 1600, some 1200, some 1400, etc).

My mother always used to say...When your having unusual bleeding of any sort. Get to the doctor!!!

I don't mean to scare you, but the female system is nothing to mess around with.

Like another poster said...You Need Answers...or...Get another doc.
