Weight Loss

Hello there! For the past year I have been trying to lose those "last ten pounds." I started off in seventh grade at 170 lbs and have spent the past two years losing 40 lbs. For a year now I have been stuck at a plateau of 130 lbs and desperately desire to get to my long-time goal weight of 120 lbs. But... I just can't seem to do it!
School starts the first week of September (I believe) and I really would love to enter my Junior year of High School with confidence in how I look. Right now I am exercising on my elliptical for one hour at least 5 times a week, burning 1,000 calories. I also do Pilates every day for 40 minutes (two tapes - the buns & thighs and the abs).
I honestly believe that I do not eat a lot of calories! I usually have Special K cereal with bacon and water, lunch I have pepperoni and cheese with a banana and water, and dinner I have some sort of meat and vegetable with water. I definetely do not take in more than 1,000 calories and yet I have not lost a single pound.
Can anyone recommend anything I can do or point out what I am doing wrong? I would really truly appreaciate any help at all. Thank you!!!

you are undereating. you need to eat to lose wt.
teens need 2000-2500 daily.
you are having less than half of that because of how much you burn with exercise. use the calorie counting tools on the site to figure out what you should be eating.

Try eating more. Time and time again I read about people who work out religiously, burn a lot of calories, but don't eat enough to fuel their bodies. As a result, they don't loose weight. Women need about 1200 calories MINIMUM.
I went to this site, www.caloriesperhour.com, which calculated my daily calorie intake to be around 1,400 calories though. I put in my weight, height, age, everything!
:( And truly, though. I could not eat anymore than I already do. I am quite full after each meal and snack.

um...i dont think you filled it out right.
it gives me 2000 - 2500 for your activity level
and you say you only eat under 1000...you will stall. thats just the way it is. and if you cant eat more than that i suggest you talk to an adult in your life for a medical check up.
its not normal or healthy to eat like that.

Eating that little at this age can also adversely affect puberty and cause stunted growth.
The body shuts off appetite when it's starving. It's to keep you from suffering. You aren't hungry, not because you've eaten enough, but because you haven't eaten close to enough.
Eat more. A lot more. You have no idea the damage you are doing to your body by eating so little every day, especially with you being so young.
Everyone's going to tell you that, and they're right. You may not believe it, and you WILL GAIN some weight at first, but you have to repair the damage you've done to your body and metabolism before you can make more progress. If you even need to make more.
You need to do the research. This is your health you're risking, it's too important to just say to yourself "Eating more can't be right because it's counterintuitive."

So... by eating MORE I'll lose weight? :(
yes....preferably 6 times a day instead of 3. If you eat something (not huge) every 2-3 hours your body gets used to continually burning it off, which revs your metabolism.
Add snacks of nuts and fruit in between meals with a glass of milk and you should get back on track. 3 snack like that should get you about 600-1000 calories more per day.
Given your activity level and your age, everyone who posted is right, you need to eat more. You can also add dried fruit to your cereal.

Check your measurements, too. Are you losing inches but not weight, perhaps?
Bacon and pepperoni are loaded with fat and sodium. If you're eating that stuff and staying low-cal, you can't be getting proper nutrition. Why not experiment with leaner meats and add some whole-grain breads or snacks to give you more energy? That would kick-start your metabolism. And please, eat some fresh veggies.
