I need help! Quick replys please! (:
Hey guys I was wondering if macaroni expanded while it gets cooked? Like the serving size says 1 cup dry = 210 calories. How much is 1 cup cooked macaroni= how many calories? Meaning 1 cup cooked macaroni would equal how much uncooked? Would it be the same? If someone could help me out I would appreciate it!
CC says that 1 cup cooked (whole wheat I'm assuming) is 174. Here is the link.
Yes, pasta expands when it cooks. Log the calories for the uncooked amount.
Here's a (kind of crappy) conversion for spaghetti: 2 oz dry pasta equals about a cup of cooked pasta. My intuition is that it doubles (ish?) in volume. So if you wanted 1 c cooked macaroni, boil about half a cup.
Sigh. That's not very precise, sorry. I mostly just eyeball the amount of pasta I want to make for a serving.
Atcually no, its not whole grain :o Mom made regular aha. Also it was in a pot and she put 3 pounds of pasta in there...So yeah. I am kinda screwed :P I am just going to messuare out 3.5 cups in a measuring cup and put it on my dish and log that in here

But for some reason that is 221 calories a cup cooked. Weird....
Not weird at all. It sounds right to me. There are about 100 calories in 1 oz. (dry weight) of pasta which cooks up to make about 1/2 cup. So, 1 cup of cooked pasta would have about 200 calories. 3.5 cups of cooked pasta will have about 700 calories before you add any sauce.
