Need help getting out of Sprint contract!!

Does anyone know a secret way of getting out of a cell phone contract without having to pay the $200 early termination fee???  I just can't handle Sprint anymore : (

Not really no. How long do you have left? I have had them for 10 years but only NOW regret renewing my last time. 

I'm stuck until July 2009.  I've also been with them since 1999 and recently lost my patience.  I can get a much better phone with a much better plan with another carrier for so much cheaper!  I tried to google ways to get out, but so far nothing has worked.Undecided  Thanks anyway!!

Sorry, can't help you out now, but for the future - NEVER let them talk you into a contract.   

Decide which carrier you want to use, buy a phone compatible with that network on on Ebay for cheap, then go sign up for a plan.  That way if service sucks, you can cancel and only get stuck with the cost of your phone, which is a LOT less than their termination fees, unless you bought yourself a super fancy phone.  (and if pick a plan/phone that uses a SIM card, they are often interchangeable on different networks, just get the new card)  

I've been doing it this way for 6 years, no contract. 

By the way, I've been with Alltel for 4 of those years and love them. Never had any service complaints, and the My Circle is AWESOME.  We have the 10 plan, and almost never use any of our regular minutes because 90% of our calls are to those 10 #s.

yah sprint sucks major butt.... i am stuck with them too until about february of 2010 and frankly i would love to drop them like ASAP....... i will not be upgrading with sprint ever!!!

I have been with Sprint for 6-8 yrs, cant remember. Dont know how to get out of the contract but I agree that they suck. Well, customer service sucks. I dont really have a problem with the actual service or price. But i DREAD when i have to call them for anything!

Im all for globalization, really. but there are some things that should not be outsourced to someone who speaks english as a second language. Over the phone customer service is one. My husband is Cuban and has a very thick accent. He makes me do his phone calls most of the time bc ppl have a hard time understanding him sometimes. common sense, sprint. common sense...

If you want out of the contract, it's usually worth it to suck it up and pay the early termination fee. I've never heard anything good about Sprint.
But yeah... you can't get out early. I moved to Korea from the States and TMobile wouldn't even let me out early. Luckily, I only had 4 or so months left on my contract so it was worth it for me to cancel my extras (texting, internet-- had a Sidekick) and just pay the $30/month for my minutes until my contract ran out.

I used to work for a cell phone company doing customer care. There are a couple of things you can do that may result in you getting out of the contract. First, be nice to the person you are talking to, don't yell or use bad language, just be calm and kind and explain why you want out of the contract. The person you are speaking to will not have the ability to help you however, once they tell you, nicely request a supervisor.

Once the Sup is on the line, stay nice, explain again why you want out. Sometimes, if your reason is good enough and you are nice enough, you may get out right there. But...you probably wont, so be ready for the next step.

You may have to do some snail mail here, ask for the address or phone number for the office of the president or billing disputes. When you call or write in, be prepared with dates and events and all of the reasons you feel you want out. Be very specific.


This won't guarantee that you'll get out, and it may all work out to be a waste of time, but if you really want out without the fee, its the best way to approach it.
