I need help / suggestions
Hi everyone. I am trying to lose 30 pounds. I burn 500 calories a day at the gym. How many calories hould I be eating for weight loss?
That depends on how tall you are and how old you are but being that 1200 is the minimum for weight loss while sedentary, i'd guess that you could eat 1600-1700 and lose weight steadily.
culd you give us ur stats so we could help you figure that out?
I am 30 years old. 5'6
I am 30 years old. 5'6
and how much do you weigh?
159
okay, so according to phord.com/cc you burn about 1730 calories sedentary, that's without activity at all, so if you add in your 500 calories burned at the gym then that's 2230 and subtract 750 from that to lose 1.5 pounds per week [1% of your bodyweight, the healthy recommendation] and you get about 1500 calories to lose 1.5 pounds a week.
if you shoot for 1 pound a week you can eat 1750.
If you change the calculator to moderately active it says you burns 2260 or so, which is consistent with the recommendations here, so it depends on how fast you want to lose weight, but for you 1.5 is the maximum and i wouldn't eat less than 1500. does that help??
Thank you so much! I have been eating about 1200 calories a day. No wonder I'm not losing any weight. I will shoot for 1500-1750 a day now, and keep up with my 500 calories a day at the gym.
Another question...are calories, calories? Or is heart rate a factor? If I stay on the treadmill for 2 hours at a regular walking pace and burn 500 calories, is it as effective as if I jogged for 1 hour and burned the same 500 calories?
in terms of weight loss a calorie burned is a calorie burned but in terms of cardiovascular health it's good to get you heart rate up.
Thanks!
