need help understanding the calorie count
okay just windering if anybody knows the answer to this...
Okay well we log our activites every day. Whne u click on the activity log. it give an estimate to how much you have burned so far today. yet you may not have logged a thing?
Is it assuming you were asleep?
and i also want to know. Do we log our 8 hours of sleep. When we get up in the morning then?
Because all the logged activities for today, my calorie expenditure is 2100ish
yet the estimator is saying i have spent much more than that??
Can anyone help?
When you give your information it asks for an activity level -- sedentary, lightly active, etc. What you put in there cetermines how many calories CC will assume you are burning.
You do not *need* to add anything else in unless you are doing somethin gmore than the activity level you selected.
For example, if you put in sedentary it assumes you sleep, eat, sit, digest food, shower, go to the bathroom, etc. If you put yourself at a more active setting it will assume you are more active and give you a higher burn rate.
It starts counting at midnight.
so do i need to log my sleep for 8 or 9 hours yeah?
think i understand. its just that i seem to be over eating in calories. yet im still losing weight. and im eating far less than i was before i started using this program...
its weird:S
Most people do not log sleep, personal grooming, sitting, or anything that is part of their normal day. They usually do log things like strenuous exercise if they have not set their activity level to account for it.
I have no idea of your stats. Are you very overweight? Or very underweight?
Are you being very careful when counting calories? Weighing your food and counting absolutely eveything -- sauces, sodas, juices, dressings etc?
If you were undereating drastically before, you may be able to lose by eating more. I know it's against everything we have been taught, but if you are starving your body it can reduce your metabolism.
Also, if you have changed*what* you are eating it may seem that your are eating tons of food, but if it is low calorie, it may still be less fuel wise than you were having before.
Have you ever tested your BMR? This is how many calories your body needs each day. For example the last time I did a BMR test it told me that even if I didn't get out of bed my body burns about 2100 Calories a day. This is without even walking the the kitchen or Bathroom. Your body burns calories to stay warm, to digest food, to rub your eyes in the morning. So that's what those extra numbers are about.
If I'm wrong please someone correct me.
So, if you are doing activities that will burn 1500 calories a day, then you are burning an additional amount of calories on top of what your body is burning normally.
Does this help any? When I enter my numbers I enter everything I'm doing from the moment I get up in the morning, I do not account for sleeping.
Good Luck!
What type of food should not be eaten?
Calorie Count does not prescribe a particular diet or tell people to avoid particular foods. We only ask that you eat a balanced diet... Read more
