Had 4 surgeries in a row and now have tendonitis of the toe.   My back muscles spasm everytime I workout.   I dont know what to do.   I walk 3 days a week knowing that my foot will hurt.   Any suggestion on how to get my muscles to stop spasming?

Talk to your doctor and/or physical therapist. Seriously - if your back is a problem, there are far too many things that could be going on, and you need to get advice from someone who can actually examine you. This is not an issue that you'll find a solution for on the internet - just a bunch of theories that have just as good (or better) a chance of hurting you as helping.

saw doctors.  nothing wrong except for weak muscles from all the knee and foot surgeries.   they said to swim.   Fine in the summer but I can't afford a membership to the Y.  my muscles dont handle excercise on dry land.  Dont know how to build them up slowly.

Hmm.  My mom experienced the same kind of thing when she had a hip surgery.

Focus on just your "problem" areas to get them limbered back up before going back to your regular routine.  Try sitting in a chair and straighten your leg (parallel to the floor) 5 times, 10 times, etc.  You could also try just rotating your foot in a circle slowly while at your desk or in bed.

Spasming is frequently caused by dehydration or a mineral/vitamin deficiency, like magnesium, potassium or even Vitamin B.  You can buy "Colodial Minerals"  at WalMart, Costco, Sam's Club; CVS or Walgreens might even have it.  It is a liquid (much like Coca-Cola syrup) that is just chock full of minerals as well as vitamins.  I used to get terrible cramps in my legs and back from swimming practice, but when I would take this stuff I didn't get it.

Hope that helps!!

thanks, I will try the exercises.   I guess I think just doing a few will not do any good.    As for the vitamins and stuff.   Had them tested.   The doctor was surprised that I had high potassium. I do take vitamin B to help the metabolism and water is all I drink besides the occasional wine or vodka.  Low potasium is what causes leg cramps and all.   I am just a mess.   Will start real slow and build up.   I did find a DVD called sit and be fit.   Will try that and see if my back does better.  Thanks again.  Will let you know how I am doing after a week.  Did buy special shoes to help the tendonitis of the toe since nothing else was helping.   Just has to get better on its own the doc said.
