I am having problems getting 33% of my calories from protein, which is what my mutritionist is asking of me.

I do fine for including protein in meals, but have probelms getting protein into snacks without adding too many carbs with it!

So I am brainstorming snack ideas and looking for some ideas .....

Boiled shrimp

  • cottage cheese
  • soynuts
  • soycrisps
  • turkey-lettuce wraps
  • cheese sticks
  • Luna, Snickers Marathon Nutrition, NuGo bars
  • Greek yogurt

Greek yogurt. Fat free if you want best protein for calorie bang. If you want to make a desert out of it:

A tub of 0% Fage Yogurt (240 Cal total).

1 cup of Almond Breeze Soy milk (40 Cal per cup)

1 packet of Jello Fat-Free/sugar Free instant pudding. Look for ones with 4 servings per packet. It will be 100-140 calories total depending on the flavor.

Put all the engredients in a deep bowl, and start combining by hand using a whisk. Once it mostly mixed swtich to electric mixer. Start on slow, and increase to high for couple minutes. It makes about  6 servings with 65 Calories per serving. 1 serving is the plastic container in which already prepared instant pudding sold in.

Tuna

Cottage Cheese

Turkey slices rolled up with a pickle inside

Laughing Cow cheese wedges

Leftover boneless breast of chicken with mustard dip

What about peanut butter?

beans , all diff kinds!

Turkey pepperoni.

- Hard Boiled Eggs

- Canned Tuna, Salmon, Mackerel, Sardines, Herring

- Sliced Turkey or Chicken Breast (Applegate Farms is best, 2nd best is Boar's Head)

- Canned Chicken

- Sugar Free Beef, Turkey, Salmon, Elk Jerky

- Elite Oats-N-More

- Pumpkin Seeds

- Sunflower Seeds

- Hemp Seeds & Flax Seeds

- Egg Whites

Slices of smoked salmon or any thin sliced meat, rolled up in fat-free cheese spread.

Also, swiss lite cheese slices, nutty flavour, high in protein, low in carbs.

Beef and/or turkey jerky

I would avoid the peanut butter and go easy on the nuts too, they're high in fat and sometimes sodium.  Lots of beans have high protein.  If sodium isn't an issue for you, go for tuna too.  The egg white suggestion is also very good.  I spray the pan w/ olive oil and fry them, then I eat them w black pepper and a bit of ketchup. Yum ;)

You are all fabulous - thank you for so many AWESOME suggestions!

Small slim jim with a mozzarella cheese stick=tasty!  It's 145 calories and 10+ grams of protein, 1 gram of carbs and very filling.

non-fat yogurt + Kashi golean

It's high in sodium so if that's not an issue then beef jerkey!  I love it and it's PACKED with protein for a small amount...most of the time it's about 80 cal per serving with 15 grams of protein hardly any carbs

I have a little stash of Clif bars for when I get a little hungry...

Calories 250

Protein 11g

Which is pretty good for me since I'm a vegetarian. =D

  • Larabars
  • Clif bars.
  • Banana with natural peanut butter and a little drizzle of honey/agave nectar if you have a sweet tooth. :]
  • Apple with peanut butter and cinnamon.
  • Fage mixed w/ nuts, granola, or fruit.
  • Oatmeal w/ nuts or fruit.
  • Bowl of high protein cereal w/ (?)milk.

Yeeeahh...that's all I can think of. >_>
