Need to lose a few kg's, please help with advice!
Hi everybody! i have been reading the other posts on this group and I'm hoping you could help me with some advice
I'm attempting to lose a little weight (3-4kg's) and tone my upper thighs and bum. I have a rather extreme hourglass figure, with a very narrow waist, and my thighs extend out sideways below my hips, making me look very out of proportion! (they are mainly problematic 'saddle-bags' at the top of my outer thighs in combination with a slightly saggy bum!). I am very skinny upper body and lower legs, and losing these few kg's is driving me nuts!
I am 58/59Kg's and 168cm tall (sorry for all those pound counters!). My total calorie burn everyday should be around 1800kcal, I was attempting to eat 1360kcal/day. So you see I'm not overweight, just annoyed that I can't feel comfortable in most of my clothes!
For around three weeks I was counting calories. Perhaps not too successfully. I love food a lot and expecially chocolates and yummy fattening things. But other then this I eat very healthily, fruit everyday and everything fresh and unprocessed. I didn't lose any weight. is this because I kept on snacking on the naughty things I like? Should I try cut out unecessarily fatty things even if they can fit into my aimed calorie intake? What I'm trying to say is how dependent is losing weight on calorie intake alone?
I have just started gymming again, running for 30 minutes on the treadmill and doing toning exercises - I aim for 4 times/week. Please please help me, all I want is to feel comfortable in my own body. I've been struggling with this for so long and I'm just so over it!
Hi there,
I myself am in the same boat although i have increased the frequency at which i run. At the moment i try and run around 5 times a week, also i find exercising in the morning much easier than at night as i never get any sort of stitches, cramps or muscle fatigue as my body has been resting. Therefore am able to run harder for longer..
Also by trying to eat such little calorie's could your body be going into starvation mode? I'm sure i read somewhere that if you limit yourself you body starts to absorb the little food you eat and take on all the fats instead of just taking on the nutrient and what it needs. I'm not sure on this last point so maybe some further research would help!
Good luck :)
I wouldnt say you are going into starvation mode, since that would be extreme. Your BMI right now is 20 which is normal. and if you lose the extra weight it would still be within the normal range for your height.
Eveyone gains in different areas. For me, its my stomach. Everything is slim but that part! lol. For you, it seems it is your thigh/ hip area.
I'd say just keep running and dont be discouraged. Healthy weight loss comes slow and cardio is the best way to slim down, so you are on the right track. Maybe you can also do some lower body areobics as well to gain muscle in that area and tone. Your calorie intake seems low enough. And when people try to cut ALL fats and sweets out of their diet, they ussually fail and become discouraged. So, dont do that :P Just maybe switch to some fat free/ sugar free stuff?
Good luck!
Hey guys,
I'm in the same boat. I'm 5'6 and 54kgs possibly 53kgs but aiming to get to 50. My heaviest weight was 58 and dropped to 54 kilos however my legs didn't change at all so I'm still trying to slim down my legs and butt area. I'm also a chocoholic, however i don't exercise --i hate it. Yet that hasn't impacted my weight loss because its 75% what you eat and 25% exercise. I eat a lot of fruit during the day and try not to have any sweets other than my coffee, usually go for a healthy soup or veggies. Although i indulge in chocolate once a week! as a reward for sticking to healthy diet during the week. This works quite well.
I managed to lose 4kgs in a bit under 8 weeks. without exercising, just walking everywhere i need to go such as uni and to the shops.
:)
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
