I am in a wedding in one month and I have lost 20lbs already, but really wanted a total of 30 lbs lost by the wedding. My total weight loss goal is to lose about 100lbs, and I seem to be at a plateau, since the beginning of August. Any help would be great!!
First of all, 20lbs is HUGE! Congratulations! That's quite an accomplishment and you should be proud of yourself. Try shaking up your diet and exercise. Also, cutting back on sugar, salt or processed foods will help you drop water weight quickly. But actual SAFE fat loss is only 1-2 lbs per week. But still, in a month, that's 4-8 lbs. So don't try to starve yourself or anything. EAT!!! Just eat the right foods.
I cut carbs out completely almost 2 weeks ago and lost 8 lbs. IT'S ALL WATER, but it does make me feel better and less bloated and my clothes do fit a little better. That may not work for you, though. It's really about finding out what works best for you.
I started South Beach Diet about 3 weeks ago and I've lost 7 pounds. Though, typically people are expected to lose 7-14 pounds in the first two weeks. That didn't happen for me, but I've extended Phase 1 past the recommended 2 weeks and I've dropped a pound every day this week.
It's a great diet and I had a lot of success with it about 4 years ago, but I didn't stick with it and gained it all back (but, note it took 4 years to gain it all back).
The first phase is really restrictive, but you start to see results quickly which gives you the motivation to stay on track.
I would recommend buying the book, too. I go back to it all the time.
Congrats on the 20 pounds and best of luck on the rest!

I am also nearing my end of phase 1 on the South Beach Diet. It's good stuff so far!
I totally recommend cutting out starchy carbs -- south beach is a good choice in plan, but it's really good enough to just replace any starchy carbs in your diet, including the so called healthy whole grains, with non starchy veggies (I love bell peppers and spinach) and some fatty protein sources (I love tuna canned in olive oil or boiled eggs -- yay!). For fruit try berries instead of other fruits. And try your best to cut out sugary products and even diet sodas. After a week you wont miss em!
Instead of skim milk drink whole. I'm serious! Its way more filling for not many more calories plus a great source of calcium. It makes a great late night snack.
Then do less cardio and more weight training. My favorite is medicine ball progressions.
Good luck.
Well I am not on the South Beach diet, I am doing the Fat Smash Diet. I did it once before and lost 26 in about 4 months, but then the holidays came and I started having problems, anyhow long story short I didn't stick with it and 2 years later I have gained 12 pounds of it back.
Now I am having some medical stuff done and my doctor told me I have to lose 10 pounds in 3 months but he would prefer me to lose 30 pounds. So I started this diet again. I started it last Thursday so 1 week and 1 day ago, and in that time I have lost 4 pounds. Its a very restrictive diet as far as what foods you can eat, but you can eat as much as you want, and you eat often. My day consists of many tiny meals, but it is working.
The fact that you have already been dieting for a little while, I'm not sure if you would lose as much.
Should I use a cleanse to jump-start my diet?
A cleanse is unnecessary, but a short-term fast like the Master Cleanse you describe, might serve as a tangible signal of change and... Read more
