Do I need to lose weight/do more exercise?

Im 5 ft 6.8 and weigh 140 lbs last time i checked so i know that im in the healthy BMI range but i just wanted to know whether in order to look slightly more toned for the summer ie my stomach and legs, do i need to be doing more exercise (currently mainly inactive for most of the day!) or just cut back on the calories. I eat around 1600 a day.

If you want to tone you should be adding in strength training.

I am 5'6" (possibly a little under) and I weigh 141-143, Goal is 135. I think my butt/thighs are too big-but I will be happy if I can just stay under 140 (which I haven't seen in probably 10 years.

It depends how you feel. I have more definition and muscle then ever and that is from eating clean and exercise. Getting toned is definitely worth it but you need to maintain it as a lifestyle and sometimes you gain some pounds in muscle/water -I am struggling with this now. For me  I have always been comfy around this weight but want to get to another level where I don't freak if I gain a pound or two.
