hahah bad idea... you are going to get attacked with posts and all are going to say the same thing:

(a) there is no quick weigt loss method;

(b) additionally, the faster you lose weight the more likely you will be to gain it back;

(c) diet pills don't work;

(d) if diet pills did work - even just one brand - it would have gotten major publicity and everyone would be thin; and

(e) there is, however, a failproof formula... if calories in < calories out, you will lose weight

oh and (f) no such thing as negative calories, however some foods (like celery and certain lettuces) take more energy to digest than what they have in them.. but there is no way you can sustain yourself on just these types of food

Sigh.....  You're new to CC so I'll leave this one to the others.  I just don't have the heart or the energy tonight.  As jenna eluded to, you're going to get attacked by some caring people who will offer you healthy eating advice.  None of those will advocate diet pills.

As for supressing hunger,

   - Drink plenty of water
   - Try snacking on high-fiber fruits and veggies.  Apples can be especially filling.

So, just out of curiosity, how much do you want to lose and how fast do you want to lose it?

this site is about loosing weight the healthy way. if you are serious about loosing weight then i would immediatly drop the "diet" pill (not going to work) and get the thoughts of immediate weight loss out of your head.

there are many different ways to supress hunger but im getting the feeling that you are interested in supressing hunger for long periods of time since you are looking for speedy weight loss.

i would be happy to give you advice if you can realize that there is no quick easy fix to weight management; it is about changing your eating habbits for the better for the rest of your life.

ya know, ive been obese my whole life and i've never once got to the point of thinking of taking diet pills.  dont diet pills give people heart attacks sometimes?   cant you die from them?   diet pills are just as bad as any other drug.  dont do it. come on.

It's the word 'again' that's quite revealing...  You see if the pills worked last time you wouldn't have to take them 'again'.  That's quite a compelling argument against taking them...

The 'negative calorie food' is something of a diet myth, however vegetables and salads are good bulky, low-calorie foods with plenty of nutrition.  If you make sure your day has lots of these foods in it first and then plan the rest of your meals around them you'll find you can be more satisfied on fewer calories.

The best combination for suppressing appetite is 'bulk', 'fibre', 'fat' and 'protein'.  So if at each meal you aim to fill half your plate with the bulky veggies mentioned earlier, 1/4 of your plate with a high-fibre carbohydrate, 1/4 of your plate with a lean protein (animal or vegetable) and add a little fat in the form of cooking oil, dressing or sauce... that's a good combination.

A healthy rate of loss is about 1 - 2lbs a week or about 1% of your total body-weight each week.  Exercise will help that along better than pills will.

i'm guessing you have some kind of even to go to?

what is the point  of losing it in the process you do some serious damage to your body and gain it back  only to find yourself needing to do it all over again for your next event or deadline?

think about it this way, there is a proven way to lose weight that works for EVERYONE, not only does it make you thin, have lots of energy, gives you great hair, skin, nails  but it'll actually make you live longer, it'll make your organs healthier, and it'll significantly improve the chances of you keeping it off for life!

well there's a way

exercise and healthy eating!

sorry lady

it's the only way

that's why we're all here

if we had a magical pill we wouldn't be

Did you know that older equals wiser.  Oprah may or may not be older than you but she is wise, especially in this field.  What does she say, "If it could be bought don't you think I would have it."  That is the bottom line.  Like the others have said only you can do it for yourself and you didn't gain it overnight and it ain't coming off overnight.  Good luck and I hope you will find the encouragement you need from this site it is a good one.  Even though we mostly know the answers about what it takes to loose weight it helps knowing others are going through struggles too.  We will encourage!

i think it is important to note the information in her bio:

Okay, well, I'm Sammy.
I'm 16 years old, and live in Ontario.
I'm 5'9 and weigh 140lbs
My goal is to weigh 100lbs
I've have eating disorders for the past 6 years, so my weight has gone up and down many times. I've had problems with diet pills many times as well.
But then I found this site, and I think it's very supportive.
I'm hoping that this site, and the people on it will help me to lose the weight i need to!
Any help is appreciated,
Good Luck to all of you!

kelly - that's a good catch, and think it's important that we have this information so that people have enough info to advise the OP correctly. However, you might want to edit your post to suggest that people look at her profile, rather than copy&pasting what she has written there.

i think you will have a hard time finding a doctor to prescribe diet pills to you at 140 being 5'9" so its hardly an option for you.
OTC diet pills don't do anything more then a caffeinated drink, in my opinion.

and no one thought i looked good at 100 pounds at 5'8" - i don't think you will look well at 5'9" and 100 pounds!  I'm sure you realise it is an unhealthy goal.

anyway fruits and vegetables in general will improve your health so will exercise!
i like celery with salsa - pretty low cal (the salsa has a lot of sodium - i know).  i agree that apples are filling, so are sweet potatoes.

fiber one cereal helps me a bit!
good luck to you!!

AMEN TO THAT !!!!

MAJOR REASON MOST OF US ARE HERE, BECAUSE PILLS DID NOT WORK, FAST LOSS  DID NOT WORK AND SUPER FOODS DID NOT WORK.

im aware that my goal may seem ridiculous,
however, its my body and i have every right to weigh what i want,
and i joined this site to get out of my normal tendency's,
because i want to lose the 40 pounds healthy, not by starving myself and throwing up.
im sick of living like that.

and diet pills can work, when used right, i should know, they have worked for me
the ones i took just got taken off the market.

anyways, im not going to agrue this.
think what you want.
just dont bother answering to the topic if your going to do nothing other then put me down about it.

because honestly, it just makes me feel worse,
and thats the last thing i need right now.

It isn't possible for someone your height and weight to lose 40lbs healthily.

but im going to try and lose most of it healthy.

because i need to weigh that much.

Exactly. Lady you need help and it's not from a diet forum. From your defensive stance, I would say you agree.

sammy, this is a site to provide support for healthy weight loss. If what we feel you are doing is not healthy, then we cannot provide support for it.  Many of us feel the need to inform the poster that what they are doing is unhealthy, instead of not responding and the poster going and doing things the wrong way.

We don't want you to starve yourself or throw up, but we also don't want you throwing away your money on pills that won't help, and will more likely lead you to just regain weight.

You say you don't want to starve yourself, but you are asking for ways to eat very low calories and suppress appetite.

It's especially concerning since, from your profile, you are a teen, and you need more calories than an adult to be healthy.

Since you've had experience with eating disorders in the past, you might want to check out our Health and Support forum, where other people with similar pasts can relate to what you are going through, and work with you on your health.

Sammy.  You are new, so I will remind you of the posting rules.  Calorie Count is a site for healthy weight loss.  We will not support you in doing anything unhealthy to lose weight.  And we will not support you in trying to get down to an unhealthy BMI.  If you want good advice, we will give you good advice.  But if you are looking for anyone here to tell you that it's ok to lose weight in an unhealthy way, this is the wrong site for that.

Calorie Count's mission is to promote healthy and sustainable weight management. Please help our moderators follow this vision and respect the following guidelines.

Sammy, you said that you've had an eating disorder for several years.  Do you feel that you get support from your parents?  Is there anyone close to you that you can go to for support?

If nothing else, can we convince you to just strive for losing 10 pounds for now and then see how you look and feel?  From your profile pic, you look like a beautiful young lady.  I hate to think that someone is pressuring you to get down to 100 pounds.  Don't let anyone tell you that you aren't fit and trim at 5'9" and 130-140 pounds, because with those stats, many girls would be extremely envious of you.

Are there any female celebrities whose bodies you would like yours to look like?  That might give us a sense of what you are aiming for.

Seriously.  You ARE at a healthy weight.  So why this goal to be ultra TO thin. Its NOT attractive or healthy at all.

I think you need to rethink things and get some help.  You already noted that you have an eating disorder and have an unhealthy outlook towards your body and foods.

Learn that food is necessary for living.  If you dont want to live, which I am assuming you do, then just stop eating.  I am not condoning this, just stating.

Food is important, healthy food is vital for all your organs to work properly.
Overly fat people and overly skinny people are BOTH malnourished in that they are either not eating enough OR not eating the correct things.

You are young and apparently naive in life.  You want what you want and you want it now.  Life doesnt work that way. You have to work hard for things in life.

Get some help before you hurt yourself and the people around you that love you.

I'm getting help on this site from other groups.
and I realize i shouldnt have posted those topics.
and i don't plan to again, after this drama from it.

I dont get support from my parents, My parents put me down more then support me.

and im getting help for my problems.
meanwhile i want to lose weight healthy, for a change.
and ten pounds for me, thats not a goal i can live with,
and my main goal is still to lose 40 pounds, but my other goal is to lose 20 pounds, and i think once i lose 20 pounds, HEALTHY. then I can re-think and discuss staying at that weight, or losing more.
