5'8 ..........155 need to lose 15!!! Who's with me?
Okay, so I am seeking motivation here! I am 22 years old. I am 5'8 and weigh 155 pounds. To some this may sound ridiculoous that I am even trying but I am unsatisfied and need some motivation. HELP
I hear ya! I'm looking to lose about 15 as well.
When you're in a healthy weight range, as we both are, it is REALLY hard!
I'm 5'10.5" 158lbs and I'd like to lose 28lbs. I'd probably settle for 15 for now, though. ;)
Anyway, I'm with ya.
I'm with you!
Hear, hear editor! I want to lose no more than 10 and I'll be done, but shoot this is harder than the first 60 were!
Should we have a weekly weigh-in day and sheet? Accountability as well as encouragement has always helped motivate me! How's a Thursday or Friday weigh-in?We can keep it super simple! How's this?

I am with you too. I am 5'6" and now at 132lbs. I know I am at a healthy weight range, but I still feel chubby. I am at the point where it is difficult for me to lose more weight. I have been exercising (not enough though). I don't just want to be skinny - I want to be healthy and strong.
Sounds good to me!!!!! I'll start out today and I guess we can follow up on friday's with weigh ins!!!

Lost: 0- so far tee hee
Can i join in with you guys? It sounds like we are all in the same boat...similar height, but healthy range. I used to be extremely thin in college, then when i moved to the beach for grad school (you think the beach would be a good motivator) I put on 20 pounds.
I love this site in the fact that i can just type in a food and have them add it to my daily intake. Tried something similar before but it was nt easy t follow.
anyhow, here goes:

Hi, I'm 21, 5'5" and I've also got a similar goal of 10-15 lbs loss. I've always kind of hovered in this limbo between "in a healthy range" and "slightly overweight" so I started the calorie counting about 6 weeks ago. The past 10 days I haven't been counting, instead just eyeballing portion sizes and stuff... also I have abandoned my exercise program entirely with very little motivation to start back up. So hopefully a little accountability will help me get back on track!!

... See you guys next Friday!
Same here! im 5'7, 158 lbs and i want to get healthier! I just want to feel good in my clothes and not so frumpy as i have been feeling lately. I'm down for a weigh in to keep each other motivated!
SW: 158

Lost: 0 so far!
What are you guys doing exercise-wise? I'm doing pretty well on eating habits and portions, im just having a hard time finding what to do to exercise!
Hi I am myself trying to get to 130lbs and I just started a groupand I plan on having weigh-ins every Fridays. So if you are serious about your weight loss we can help each other out , the group is called '' Who's the boss.... you or that scale?''
Hey everyone -
I am 5'8 and 155 lbs as well. I am really, really, really trying to lose weight and stick with it this time. I would be a happy 140 (don't want to lose the curves) and then see from there. I am trying to eat healthier - but it is hard when two of my meals are at work, which is a bakery/cafe. I start counting calories, then it just gets time consuming and boring, plus I eat a lot of whole foods so entering each individual veggie gets kind of lame. Overall I want to stay stricter about planning out my meals and snacks and exercising. Right now I do power vinyasa flow yoga 3-4 times a week (it IS a work out!) and run about 3 times a week.
Any advice, reccomendations?
watchign calories is hard! esp if you are away from home and stuff. I think even if you can make little changes its good. Rae it sounds like you are doing good though for the exercise and food.
I find it amazing how fast my calories reached 1200 the first day. I was done by lunch basically! Im still trying to get ino the routine now
I bought a pedometer and am trying to walk 10000 steps a day, which should burn an extra 300-400 calories, in addition to my other exercise. I also am starting to try to run more often, but I'm out of shape.
I went to a birthday party yesterday and it was basically impossible to stay on track. Bruscetta, queso and chips, enchiladas, ice cream cake, etc. Today we are having a harry potter party and get ready for the release, but I know there will be wine, pizza, who knows what else. Im gonna try to make a healthy dessert and get fat free pound cake with strawberries, so at least that wont be so bad.
I know - my problem is I am a total picker-atter. I eat small bits of lots of stuff randomly - not planned out and just for the delicous taste. I really need to work on planning!
I'm 22 as well, 5'8", and weigh 145, but want to get down to 135 at least. Good to know I'm not the only one wanting to lose weight even though it's all healthy range :D.
I hate my legs. I woke up when I started getting love handles though. I am too embarassed to wear a swimming suit and have not worn one yet this summer :(. Actually I tried a new one on yesterday at Target and wanted to cry. I don't know if I really look like that or if the mirror was bad. WHen I try on swim suits at home I look bad, but not as bad as I did in Target :S
No! SCREW the mirrors at Target! They suck and you are hott. We've all been there. Seriously, those changing rooms are set up like they're supposed to be temporary, yet they're always there to horrify us with their terrible lighting and warped mirrors.
Anyway, I don't know about you, magentacatz, but I live in the midwest and when the sun comes out in the summer it's as though none of us have ever seen it before. I only skip the pool on days when I am being actively kept from it. It pains me that you haven't worn a swimsuit at all this summer, because you're missing out!
Sure, there's something within each one of us on this thread that says, "I need to lose some weight!" or "I wish I was thinner!" but... we are all already healthy young women (right, no old men here as far as I can tell?) and it's important that we don't take our weight loss too seriously, in the sense that it's not more important than our confidence, dignity, and self-esteem. (All 3 things that should ideally not be tied up with weight!)
Losing weight, when starting out at a healthy BMI already, is part of a total package. Mind, body, and spirit. Let's help each other lose weight -- not out of insecurity, but rather out of the pride we have in our bodies!
Sorry for the passionate rant (I'm a rising Scorpio), but I just want to end by saying how proud I am of everybody on this thread for committing to this, working through it together, having our Friday check-ins, and hopefully creating a place to express ourselves, as well. Solidarity, sisters!
I'll join too. I'm 5ft 9 and 155 pounds. My final goal weight is 130.
25 pounds seems such a lot to loose but I'm breaking it down into 5 pound incriments. I'm logging calories and trying to walk more and maybe starting something of a fitness regime at home (I can't afford the gym at all at the moment).
ugh i was so bad this weeknd. I actually gained 2 pounds! Maybe its just water wieght since i have been trying to stay hydrated but have eaten poorly this weekend. Today trhough I plan on going to a spinnign class and then for a walk with a friend, so hopefully things will be better for me this week.
so what is everyones biggest vice? I think mine is alcohol. Its obviously bad for you, and empty calories, but then it makes me want to eat more too! Im trying to cut back on it though, and that will hopefully help alot with the weight loss
I am 5'7", was 185, am down to 157.5, and would like to lose 12.5 more...so i'm right there with you ladies!!
I had a major cheat weekend, but am back on track today, and hoping to lose 1.5 pounds this week. I can't wait til I can get to 155 and say I've lost 30 pounds...wow!
Hey guys.
I'm basically 5'8" and as of this morning I weigh 140lbs, 6lbs heavier than when I first came home for the summer at the beginning of June. BLEH.
Looking to get back down to about 130-132lbs and then maintain. It's hard because my mum buys so much junk food ( for example there are 6 different cream cakes in the fridge as I type), but having other people as motivation always helps :) Good luck everyone.
la discotheque I feel your pain. I'm almost 5'9" and weigh about 138 lbs. I'm living with my parents for about a month more before my new apartment is ready. I have been around 135-138 the whole year, but all this great food is getting to me.
But tomorrow I'm starting a diet with my Dad to see who can lose the most weight (healthy style). However, whatever he loses he has to divide by 2, since men lose weigh faster, and he has more to lose.
Hopefully that will be an incentive. Winner pays the other $50.
I'm also hoping to get to 130 and maintain under 135 consistently.

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
