so here's the deal..

i got big calves, compared to the rest of my body. and they're not just all flabby and fatty, but have a pretty good amount of muscles (or atleast that's what i think).  but i still don't liek it...  i mean, ofcourse there's fat also..

when i first joined the gym and started to work out, my PT told me that i should do exercises for my calves so that my calves will get smaller and be in shape.

but honestly i feel liek if i actually work my calves muscles, it'll just get even B I G G E R!!!

so what do you say?
also, it'd be TRULY helpful for me if u could tell me how to shrink my friggin' calves!!!!! hahaha

Stay away from Cycling, as they will bulk up your calves.  Step classes are the way to go!

hey, sorry, i work out, but i don't really know the machine names or work out names and stuff...

what are step classes?

and also, would running on the treadmill make my calves bigger? i also liek to put incline...   would that make it worse?
If you're like me and you don't know what exercises will make them bigger or smaller, either make a list, and/or befor eyou start it measure your calves, then after maybe a week of doing those measure again and see if they are smaller or bigger. :)

If you are a gym member, ask if they offer step classes.  Step is a popular form of aerobics with work the legs and the fitness.  Taking step will slim your legs, big time.

As for the treadmill, you can also slim your legs by slow/moderate jogging or walking for a long period of time (like 45 min).  If you go to fast, your legs will bulk up.

Hope this helps.

You dont seem to have big calves to me so I was thinking, is it the SHAPE that you dont like?

Because working on shaping your calves might give you the results that you are looking for and you can do that by doing toe raises. No special equipment.

Just grab the back of a chair, stand on one leg and then slowly go up on your toe and back down. You can do about 20 each side.  Once those get easy start adding weight.  Grab a dumbell (say 5 lbs to start) and hold it in your free hand as you raise and lower on one leg.

Just a thought :)

i guess it's both: size and shape..

i just want the size to shrink!! argh... in the pictures, my calves may not look as big as they REALLY are, but trust me.. i don't liek 'em!!

AWWW MAN!!! so if you run, your legs bulk up??? my speed is 9.0 for about.... either 20 mins or 30 mins...  is that a bit too fast? too much? what do u say?

Well just short of a muscleectomy the muscle you have in those calves will have to stay.  Work them only for conditioning not heavy weights which will add to them.  As for r the rest of your conditioning the key is to work with them without doing those exercises which tend to bulk them up. Incline work although a great fat burner will engage calves as will step class.  Stick to the slight incline treadmill, upright bike and eliptical and interval train while on them...periods of hi intensity and then cool down and hi intensity again.  All the best.
I'd post in the exercise forum and see what they say.  But your best bet would be to talk to a personal trainer about specific exercises to target and shape your calves.

geez... thank you for your reply =) really...   but i still don't really get what you meant when you said:: Incline work although a great fat burner will engage calves as will step class.

- are you saying that not too high of an incline will work?? when im doing manual mode on the treadmill, my running level's: 9.0 (think that's 9 kilometers per hour? )  and incline level: 3.0-3.5

- is that baad for my calves??

- ohh also, are yous aying that period of hi intensity then cool down, then high again is good for your calves??

usually on the treadmill, i do random mode, where the speed  will stay the same (you can choose the speed),but the incline will randomly change on its own. what do you say?
don't do incline. it makes your calves bigger. at least, for me. sometimes it depends on your body.
ahhh.. so inclines DO make ur calves bigger... =(
Your calves look beautiful.  Fit is healthy, and stick legs don't look good on anyone!  Ask some boys, and see what they think of your legs. ;)

I am still a big girl, I've got 35 more pounds to lose.  But I have nice legs.  A woman in the grocery store stopped me to ask me what I did to get such gorgeaous legs!  And I'll tell you one thing, my legs are not skinny.  They are muscular and shapley.

honestly, my legs aren't like they seem to be on my pics. my legs are unusually muscular but also , i can pinch a good about of fat. im trying not to run for too much with an incline that's too high =(  did i make a good choice?

so here pops another question: when i lose weight, will the fat in my calves get thinner and will my calves look smaller, but still with some muscles in them to make the shape look much nicer??

god... i sound reallllly desperate ughhh i hate it!! rawr~
