So, I always wear eyeliner on my top lid whenever I go out or to school and it always comes off sooo easily. Within only a few hours it's almost all gone or smudged all over my eyelid and I wear waterproof/supposed to stay on for a long time eyeliner too!

Now, I know there are primers for eyeshadow to make it stay but I just don't know what to do about my eyeliner.

Normally, I don't mind that much but I have prom and this senior cruise thing coming up in a few days and I would like my makeup to actually stay on for this.. soo How do you make it stay on?

do you wear foundation?

Yeah, I use that mineral stuff.

apply it and powder over your eyelid when applying to face,  with a slightly damp make-up sponge pat entire face (including eyelids) apply eye shadow pat with sponge apply liner dust lightly with powder apply again and pat with damp sponge,  takes no time at all and will help it stay in place, this routine works with lipstick too.

Okay, Thanks! Smile

I wear Bare Minerals, and they have a powder eyeliner that's really great.  Like most eyeliners, it can wear off, but Bare Minerals also sells "weather anything liner sealer."  I mix a couple of drops with just a little bit of powder liner in the provided cup, and I wind up with a great eyeliner that stays in place all day - even when I sweat.

Mine stays on pretty well.

Try this;

Put foundation of your choice on eyelids, apply eyeliner, then apply eyeshadow of same color on top of eyeliner.

This kind of "sets" it in place without making it lighter.

Hi,

I agree with the post above, that work well. That's my trick, but MAC and SmashBox both sell eyeshadow primers that can be applied to the lid prior to your makeup.

If you need any other makeup advice let me know because my daughter went to MKC Makeup Artistry school in LA so I've got some inside scoop! (lol)

Use urban decay 24/7 cream eyeliner. It stays on all day.

Use max factor pigment eyeshadow. It stays on all day too and it's really bright and fun. Just be careful with it because it stays wherever you put it!

Hi there.  OK, I am a cosmo. Kiss I have been working with makeup techniques for over 15 years now.....My suggestion for people that I work on that have this issue is to get black eyeshadow, and apply with a thin shadow applicator (brush) just on the lash line over the eyeliner, careful not to go over the demarcation point of the liner too much  - in other words, keep it at the last line and not all over the lid.   So step 1:  Apply your waterproof black eyeliner (and yes, your skin sounds somewhat oily around the eye area, so stick with waterproof).  Step #2:  Then apply a line of black eyeshadow (brown, eggplant, and  dark blues work well for a slight accent) and blend.  I suggest spending the $15 to invest in a good eyeshadow, such as mac because its mostly pigment, hardly any fillers.....Any powder will set your liner, but if you use a light color, you will lose the depth of your dark eyeliner, thus I suggest using dark colors.

Not only will this blend your harsh eyeliner line, it will set your makeup.

Another option is to use wet eyeshadow  - but generally, although it wont "melt off" it tends to blow off.....Frown

Well good luck with your make up! By the way, oily areas of the skin are usually a good sign, as oils protect the skin from all kinds of problems - such as prem. aging!! woo hoo!!!! Hope this helps.....

Every liner I tried I had the same problem (even if they said 24/7 or waterproof or smudge free or w.e) .. then one day I bought like this bright blue liner from GOSH (newer I think? I had never seen it before.. or maybe it just recently came to Canada? :S) for a theme party and it was still on at the end of the night

Needless to say I went back and bought it in black.. it's a liquid liner with a brush tip and I swear by the stuff now (I have blue and gold for theme parties and black for everyday)

However, its pretty expensive (compared the cheaper stuff I was buying before) at about $20 ... but I can even wear it on my bottom lid without it smudging (ahah I was shocked/amazed)

Anywho.. now that I basically sound like an informercial for GOSH ... lol

Have fun at prom and on your cruise and good luck with your makeup!!

Hi there Kysserminfrites,

I too swear by liquid eyeliner. I use black as well and it is either from Kanebo or Clinic. I have never experienced this to fade at all. You can get it with a (paint)brush applicator, or with a thin sponge like applicator (like a felt-tip pen) depending on your preference.

I don’t wear foundation or powder, but a friend of mine that does swears by this trick; apply makeup in your normal way, and when finished, spray your face with a thin layer of hairspray to keep the makeup locked in place. Like I said this is mainly for foundation and powder, but it might be worth giving a go. Just keep the layer thin, you don’t want a stiff, sticky face. Try pointing the can up and let a small amount fall onto your face, oh and very important, keep your eyes closed, but I guess that is a given. Good luck.Wink
