Need More Fibre?

Quote  |  Reply
I just bought Ground Flax Seed. It's called Flaxseed Meal on the bag. I found it in the cooler at a Organic food store but it's possible it can be found in any grocery store or supermarket.

I added 2 Tbsp to my Protein shake in the morning and it adds 4g of fibre. Put an orange in there and that's another 4g. Altogether my breakfast has 12g of fibre. Considering the minimum someone should eat is 25g, I am well on my way.

Just something to think about.

I love flax - I use the whole seeds mixed with my cereal or oatmeal, adds nice crunch and nutty flavour :)

I think I read that the whole flaxseeds don't do much because they don't break down fast enough??
I read that, too.  I heard that you should buy ground flax-seed and keep it in an air-tight container.  That being said, who really knows?  Flax is a lot more delicious in seed-form, anyway.

Another note:

I think I'm eating waaaay too much fibre.  I have terrible, terrible gas all the time.  Does anyone know how to fix that?

Well since we're talking about fiber.. I dont know what the deal is, but I have greatly increased my fiber intake (on LAWL diet) and yet I am less regular. It's truly bizzare. My body seems to react more to fat and simple carbs than to fiber. Example, a night of drinking, or a heavy pasta dinner, will get me super regular the next day..

And since I'm already being gross, watch out for soy products.. talk about making you gassy.. yikes..
