I need a motivation buddy!
I need someone who can hold me accountable to eating and working out like I should. I would love it to be someone about my size so they would understand the problems I face! I am 5'2" and I weigh 116 pounds! I'm also 19 years old but I don't really care if you are older or younger!
Um, you do know that you are at healthy weight now? In fact your BMI is right smack in the middle of the healthy range?
And that's perfect for 19 -- it will keep your body right where it needs to be for all the skeletal, hormonal and neurological development that is happening from now until you turn 25.
But if you are looking to get better at healthy food choices and maintaining physical fitness, then you may want to post for a buddy over on the Maintenance or Fitness forums.
Best of luck.
I do know that this is a "healthy" weight for me but 105 is also a healthy weight. I would feel more comfortable with my body if I weighed less, that's all.
Since you can't know ahead of time whether you will change your brain's neurotransmitters through dieting to go on to develop a full blown eating disorder, it's not recommended that a teenager diet for any other reason than currently being overweight with imminent health issues attached.
30-40% of all women who diet develop ongoing obsessive issues with food intake for life. Of those a further 30-40% develop full-blown eating disorders.
Your body, until age 25 has to undergo some critical development: neurologically, skeletally and hormonally. There is no reason you cannot focus your attention on healthy food choices and an active lifestyle.
It is obviously your risk to take, but you should check out how many are suffering and trying to overcome eating disorders on these forums who now wish they had never dieted for a vanity 11 lbs in the first place.
Just for your consideration.
How is what I'm doing any different than "healthy food choices and an active lifestyle"? I want to change my diet to exclude the crap and be balanced. I want to exercise consistently (like I did in high school when I played basketball and softball). I know my body and I was perfectly healthy at that time and it would be perfectly fine for me to get back to that weight/size/fitness level or whatever you want to call it.
Also, I'm barely a teenager. I'm a sophomore in college and turning 20 in a little less than four months. I'm not one of the obsessive 90lb 5'6" 13 year olds on here.
As I said, just for your consideration. You have it all figured out.
i totally want a motivational buddy to. Lets be buddys
How come I’m not losing weight?
Your workout routine is commendable but you are eating too many calories to lose weight. 1500-1700 calories a day is more like a maintenance... Read more
