In need of motivation to stay focus this weekend

Hello Everyone,

I'm going on an super-bowl cruise this weekend and although I'm very excited I'm also terrified. I went last year and there was so much food. I'm not going to fool myself into thinking that I'm going to stick with my 1200 cal count but i don't want to pig out on food just because its there and FREE. I don't even want to mention the alcohol that I know I will be drinking. Ive been doing so good with my diet and so far lost 10 pounds. Any suggestions on how to control my eating?

Don't go??!?  Just kidding!  Have a blast, but be prepared.  If possible, don't skip your workout that morning, and eat a little something healthy before the party.  Then at the party, be sure to scan the appetizers before you begin eating.  Assuming some of the "standards" will be offered, pile your plate with fresh vegies (no heavy dip!) add some chilled shrimp, chicken strips, and anything else that you know won't cause you to feel bad later if you indulge.  Watch out for all the cheese/cheesy foods!  Don't even take one chip!  Choose the alcoholic drinks that have the fewest calories and sip them slooooowly.  Enjoy the party by talking to everyone, (you might notice how others are eating and feel secretly proud that you are not falling into "the trap"), and flirt a little Wink!!!  I'll bet if you keep the focus on having a good time you won't feel bad at all on Monday, but so pleased that you had a blast in spite of all the temptations!  P.S.  The food may be "free", but you'll end up "paying" for it later Cry.  Hope you have a terrific time!

Thanks...this will be my first real challenge. If I can get through this than everything else will be much easier. Laughing

Congrats on the 10 pounds...that's fabulous!!

Also, remember that no matter what you eat on the cruise, when you're done, you will continue doing what you've been doing.  You've obviously done great with losing the 10 pounds already.

Think of it as, "Okay, so I gained a pound or two this weekend.  I'll I've done is delayed reaching my goal weight by a week, maybe two."  Putting it in those terms doesn't make it seem so bad.

That being said, I don't really have any suggestions other than trying to eat the healthy food first, and then little bits of the less than healthy food later.  Hopefully, you'll fill up on the healthy stuff, and not crave the unhealthy as much.

Good luck...and let us know how you did!  Sometimes accountability is the best food deterrent.

Wow, glad you posted! I'm going to have the same problem this Sunday. Here's what I'm planning.

Workout in the morning. Then, at the party, stay away from anything that's not fresh or is served in a sauce. I can have the shrimp with cocktail sauce dip. I can have the veggie platter, but no dip. I will allow myself 1/2 c. of mixed nuts. I know darn well that I'll have a couple of drinks, but will avoid mixers and stick with gin on the rocks. No beer! At dinner time, no dessert allowed, and only lean protein and veggies go on my plate.

Good luck to us both! Hey, I'm just hoping to enjoy the game and my companions and put food on the backburner.
