Need motivational partner/group for those tricky last 5-7lbs
This a group for those who want to lose those last few pounds that just won't seem to come off.
Stats:
5'2" 120
Goal: 113
Post your current stats and goal.
I'd love to join you. There is already a group for the last 5 lb in the groups section, but not much activity.
Stats: 5'10" 151
goal: 145
Are you doing anything different to lose the last bit? The same old system that helped me lose the first 15 lbs. doesn't seem to be working any more
I'm having the same experience. I'm at a loss right now about how to lose these pounds. Over the summer I was away from the gym so I could only do running workouts with no weights. Hopefully now that I have access to a gym the weight training will help out as well. I do 3 days of strength training a week and 5 days of cardio. The weekends are killing me though. If I could just stick to my weekday eating routine on Sat and Sun I know I would make more progress.
What are you thinking about trying to mix things up a bit? I'm thinking about adding more cardio since I only do about 30 at a time.
I'm 5' 3" and 123 pounds. Looking to get down to 115!
I am more like 8 pounds from my first, ideal goal, but I want to keep going......
: D always in the mood for new, motivational help.
Welcome prettypink and olivia77!
I hope everyone's day went well. As long as I can keep the night snacking under control it will be a good day for me. Does anyone else struggle with this?
oh and just for fun, let's post why getting these last few pounds is important. For me, I just remember feeling the best at that weight in my clothes and I had a fairly toned body. I miss that the most-having the mind of an athlete and the muscle to match.
Last time I weighed 150 anything, I was doing Atkins, not really eating well, not really doing it right.
THIS time, I am working out every day, eating right --- the right foods, the right cals, drinking water, fiber, veggies, you name it.
I am in this to be HEALTHY vs. "skinny." the last few pounds means a lot to me........ If you had told me last summer at 230 that i would ever be this close to 150, I would have laughed, BUT I am..... the last few pounds mean a message to KEEP GOING!!!!!!!!!!! how low can I go?????? How healthy can I be???? it is an enigma..... if I maintain my workouts and eating, I think the sky is the limit. : D
EDIT: and btw, OF COURSE< I struggle snacking. don't we all???? ( : not alone.....
Oh, I'm there with you, ladies. I'm 5'3" and 115. I'd love to get down a few more, but in the end I don't care about the scale going down that much. My real goal is not to gain and to get more toned! I'm a size 2/4, but I've got some flab, you know?
The reason it's important for me to finally go that extra step and finally get toned is to prove to myself that I can. I have a bad habit of not quite finishing things, and since I know I'm attractive where I am it's too easy to think "good enough," and not go for GREAT! I'm especially focused on my thighs, which have too much cellulite to wear anything above my knee. I'm sick of it and next summer I want to be able to wear whatever I feel like!I'm going to stop thinking about who I want to be in the future and BE who I want to be NOW.
It seems like a few of you are petite, like me. This website tells me to only have 1200 calories a day, and I have found that to be IMPOSSIBLE. Any food suggestions? I work in a BBQ restaurant, so that doesn't help things much!
do you work out? I find that allows me to eat back those cals in addition to my 1200 and it is ok...... edit: I am 150something, so I actually work out about 300 cals a day and eat 1600-1700. but you know what I mean. ( : It can be done. I could never work in a restaurant again, I think --- stay strong. gosh -- tough chick!
Hey naomi! Welcome!
Since I am shorter like you I like to eat things that I know are going to fill me up while still staying within my calorie limit. I go with foods like apples, oatmeal (sugar-free), bananas, and broccoli. Those are my staples.
Working in a restaurant must be hard, heck I worked near the food court at a mall and that was way challenging for me.
So I weighed myself today and actually gained 2 pounds since last time. :( Too much alcohol this weekend plus I way overate Saturday and Sunday. I knew it was going to happen but I still don't like seeing it. I have a feeling this is real weight too (not water retention) because it's been a week or two since I checked. I wish I hadn't let myself go this much...I was 115 at the beginning of the summer. Gosh! Mini rant over.
How is everyone else's week going? Do we want to have a weigh-in day?
I like your list of staples, jkub. All that's on my list too. ( : Anyone of other good ones? (carrots, protein, string cheese, cottage cheese, Boca burgers, PB and toast, YUM)
I'd love to have a weigh in day. No pref as to when though.
I do the same thing -- by the way --- the booze is what is holding me back a little now. I try not to drink through the week, and that's good, but then on weekends, I drink and eat too much. backfire.... A little more moderation has helped, but it's still hard. doesn't help that they had a sale and have literally gallons of liquor in my freezer right now --- thanks, boyfriend. GOSH
Hi all! I used to weigh 115 at 5'6", but that was before the brick wall that my metabolism hit (I've since heard it's a 30's thing). I loved being at that weight, but I'm not sure if I should get there again or not.
I'm currently 121, would like to lower my BF%, and maybe get down to 118.
For those who are struggling with 1200 cals/day, I too am in that range (1276). I eat lots of gala apples and homemade soup. I eat my sandwiches open-faced now, which saves me 50 cals. Gum is my best friend! If I'm really feeling hungry, I'll grab a can of Coke zero (no calories), and it fills me up (with gas, but that still counts, right? lol). The bad news is I just recently heard that sugar subs. can make you crave sweet things more than if you didn't have the substitute.
I'm going to have to third the motion on galas being the absolute best! I have to admit also that I go for a diet soda when I need that extra filler. What are your favorite recipes for homemade soup? I am really into the cambells light soups right now. I go to college so any suggestions that are simple and pretty easy would be great.
PS Saturday=weigh in day. :)
Hey queenmedia- or stats are very close.
I'm also 5'6", but I weigh 123 instead of 121. I don't excercise much, so it's all fat, and I feel kinda flabby and squishy. I'd love to be around 115-118 and toned!
I love Gala apples too, though Pink Ladies are my favorite. Really, I'm good with any apple that's crispy, fresh, and sweet/tart.
Hi,
You all sound very much like me! I'm short 5' 2 and 3/4 inches. That 3/4ths of an inch is very important when you're super short to begin with.
I weigh 115 today but my typical is 112. I gained 5 pounds over the summer from too much over eating and drinking and I'm still in the process of losing! My goal weight is 105 - a little more than 5 to 7 but close.
If there was no such thing as weekends, I would be down to 105. I am so good during the week - I exercise and plan all my meals and than the weekends come and I have to top off my good week with a glass of red wine and everything goes to hell.
I also like to fill up on baby carrots - you can eat a whole bag and its only 150 calories.
olivia, I would love to hear your soup recipes! 30-50 cals per cup?! Wow! That's awesome! I really have no idea what the count on my soups are per cup, so I just estimate it to be around 150 cals, based on store soups. My mom gave me a zucchini last night- I've never had one before, so I'm thinking that I should incorporate it into a soup!
jkub, I'm not sure what kind of kitchen set up you have, whether in dorm, apartment, or boarding. When I was living in dorm in college, I only ate cafeteria or frozen foods (wasn't big on cooking for myself then!). I'm guessing that the campbells are probably most convenient for you, but if you like making your own, try making a big batch and freezing it into single-meal servings. The staples I always add are potatoes, squash, onions, carrots, and brown rice. If I have them, peas and corn, and I even went searching for a can of black beans last time I made a soup. I prefer leaner meats like chicken of turkey, but you can't beat a beef stew on a cold day! (I live in Canada, it's a chilly 44 F this morning). I like to experiment with seasonings, making it as low sodium as possible. I add pepper, basil, sage, and a bit of table and garlic salt.
aiming, I feel just the same- squishy! haha! I started lifting weights this past summer and although my weight didn't drop, I lost 9% body fat! It's a great fat burner, but my belly is still flabby. I'll just keep playing the "I have 3 children!" card until I -hopefully- get firm :D
I actually have a full kitchen but do make a lot of frozen foods. Gotta love those frozen dinners. I was thinking this soup thing sounded like a nice change of pace plus I get cold pretty easy and love the warmth of a nice steaming bowl of soup. Do you just mix all the ingrediants together in a pot? How long do you cook them together and how high?
Squishy is an excellent word right now for how I feel as well. I don't have any excuses though, just too many "breaks" this summer from a more healthy lifestyle. I love being at school with a routine, this helps me a lot.
What are some of the strategies that you use to maybe avoid eating something or snacking when you know you're not really hungry?
Does anyone know how many baby carrots a serving size is? The serving size is 3.3 ounces and I don't have a scale. I am really getting into munching on these but I want to make sure I'm logging it right.
I used to feel squishy --- then the bf got a Bowflex. WOO -- I am hard as a rock in most places now. I love my cardio, but weight lifting has really helped my body.
If any of you are interested, I get a lot of recipes of www.cookinglight.com
It's a great site and it has all the nutritional information at the end of the recipe. I haven't been eating a lot of soup over the summer since it seems like more of a fall/winter thing but you guys have motivated me to make a big pot this week. It's great for bring to work for lunch!
I love it for lunch at school though ---- filling and yummy. takes a little while to eat since it's hot etc, so I feel like I ate more for not so many cals. yay!
