Need a name!

Alright I'm hoping maybe somebody can help me out...

My school makes all these types of cookies that are absolutely delicious! There is one that's my favorite, though. It is a sugar cookie with these red things in it... the red things are red on the outside, white on the inside, and taste minty. They aren't pieces of peppermint stick.

Does anybody know what the red things are called? Or possibly even have a recipe? Thank-you in advance!!
