In need of a new plan

Quote  |  Reply

CC has really helped me with portion control and getting down to a healthy BMI. BUUUUUUUUUTTT............ lately I am just so busy with my new job to keep track of my caloric intake. As a student I had lots of time on my hands to dedicate to my cooking and eating.  Now I work long hours and shift work and have stopped the CC diet.

I need ideas to help me get back on track. I am thinking nutrisystem is a good choice because they have prepackaged meals with the calories counted out already.

Anybody else manage shiftwork and CC?

risza, this is not the answer you are looking for, but consider your priorities. When you had lots of time, you not only cooked, ate and counted calories...what are some of the non-work activities you are doing right now that you could postpone or steal time from in order to eat healthy?

I don't think you need pre-packaged food in order to live a healthy life. Also it is very expensive.

I know of a lot of people on here who make large batches of food on the weekends and then freeze portions so that they can just pop it in the microwave for a few minutes to heat it up on the weekdays.

Planning ahead would probably be better than something like Nutrisystem, in my opinion.

I agree that a pre-packaged diet is not the solution. Preparing healthy food only takes minutes a day. I've had days when I'm so busy most of my meals were protien shakes and cereal, but most days I'm easily able to make healthy choices.

Seems like a lot of my healthiest eating doesn't take any preparation at all. Nonfat yogurt with some fresh fruit and walnuts or ground flax is a mainstay. I just have to make sure I keep the house supplied with fruit and vegetables. Another of my standbys is sardines with whole grain crackers and yogurt. Doesn't appeal to everyone. Microwaved sweet potatoes make a nutritious and extremely simple meal. I never find pre-packaged meals satisfying. My son and his wife do the thing of making enough leftovers on the weekends to have nice lunches set aside for the rest of the week. They have some pyrex bowls with lids that they take to the office.

quick healthy eating isn't too difficult, worst case scenario grill a piece of meat and steam some vegies! get a few basic recipes worked out for when you don't have time or energy if you don't want to preprepare on the weekends
