Alex is complaining about my precious Cottonelle toilet paper so I'm considering switching.  He says it leaves behind too much lint.  I don't have a problem with it, so either he's wiping too hard or this stuff isn't compatible with hairy hineys.  TMI?  Oh, yes. <3

So, what does the world think of Charmin?  Linty?  Thin?  Does a bad job of cleaning?  I think a recent commercial showed they've got quilted rolls, right?  I don't like anything smooth.

What about Cottonelle Ultra?  Is it any better than regular Cottonelle or should I just say bye bye to that adorable little puppy on the package forever?

Now, toothpaste.  I need new toothpaste.  Recommendations?  I prefer the gel type but am open to anything that'll kill Alex's morning breath.  He hates switching toothpastes (which is why we use gross, cheap stuff.  Ultra Bright?  Or something), so the better review you can give that'll really convince me to switch to it and not switch to something else, the more you'll become my hero.  But for another 50 hours or so, the hero position is taken for the time being.

Thanks for the suggestions if you give 'em and if you don't, I'm messaging every single one of you to harass you for them.

As far as these products go, I seem to have a lot in common with your better half ;O)

I used Cottenelle for quite some time and had pretty much the same complaints. We switched to Cotenelle Ultra and I really liked it. Later I tried the new Charmin Ultra Strong... it's my favorite by far. It's still somewhat soft, but very strong. I compare it to my favorite paper towels "Viva". It also helps to keep some baby wipes in the bathroom for assistance (they even have the "adult" flushable ones now.)

I'm a cheap a$$ when it comes to toothpaste also. I have to have something really minty tho. My favorite by far is Aqua Fresh Extra fresh. Nice and minty and much cheaper than the other big brands.

Hope that helps.

Figured I'd reply ASAP, I don't like being harrassed by strangers ;O)

Mike

We get Charmin because 1) it's sold in bulk at Sam's  and 2) it doesn't shred when wiping your @ss (my hubby's chief complaint about other tp's).

The only toothpaste I use, and will ever use until I find a comparable product, is  Biotene toothpaste.  I had a problem with painful canker sores, like getting them every week, until I switched to a toothpaste without SLS in it (sodium laureth sulfate - the stuff that makes toothpaste "foamy).  Haven't had one since the switch.

However, if you really want to kill morning breath, a few drops of tea tree oil mixed in with regular toothpaste will do it, or swishing/gargling with luke warm cinnamon clove tea.  When brushing, tell Alex to be sure to brush his tongue.

Hope this helps!

About TP, get the recycled kind! Seventh generation brand! It is not linty at all, sturdy and no bleach. If he doesnt like it get him a large leaf plant and a coffee can.

edit: Toothpaste; use baking soda instead. No weird crap and it totally cleans your teeth and gets rid of ANY halitosis. If you rinse properly orange juice doesnt make you gag after you brush either. Feel free to assault my inbox if you want to know anything more!
Scott Tissue (just the regular kind): best for your plumbing, and I find most effective, most lint free. More expensive, but lasts longer.

AJ's Dishwashing Liquid: best bang for the buck. :)

Listerine: when you first wake. A lot easier to use, if used before you brush your teeth :)
Listerine and other mouthwashes causes worse halitosis in the long run. It dries out your mouth so bad bacteria can grow.
Dentist orders, we Listerine.  Me for the chip in my molar and Alex because his mouth is raunchy after he eats garlic.

Come on kids, I'm not convinced to give up my Cottonelle yet and Alex will be very unhappy if he continues to have a linty tooter.

I'm not too sure about the TP.  I use Angel Soft because it's soft and cheap.  I get no complains out of the boyfriend since he's going through it constantly.

As for toothpaste, I love Colgate Total.  Before hand, I could still feel something on me teeth before hand and felt the need to brush my teeth a second time after using Listerine.  But with Total, my teeth feel pretty clean the majority of the day.

I also use Angel Soft. For toothpaste-  I can't think of the exact name of it, it's Crest _____. It seriously makes my teeth feel squeaky clean lol.

We love love love our Cottonelle with Aloe and E.  Hubbys got a tender patooty and its soft but very strong at the same time.  We don' t have a lint problem with it either. I have noticed a lint problem with the regular Cottonelle.

As for toothpaste, we just use crest.

Toilet paper:  Scotts. It is virtually lint free and does indeed last longer.  While the "man of the house" complains of how it is too hard on his booty -  Scotts for everyone, it simply lasts longer and leaves a lint free laundry day.

Toothpaste:  Aquafresh Extreme Clean - Mint for the "boys" in the house; they say all other brands give them "fishy fish breath".  For me, it's Crest Whitening (something or other).

Happy T.P. and Toothpaste hunting !!!  (Somehow, that sounds disturbing in my twisted mind)
how about just asking, "can anyone recommend a soft toilet paper that doesn't leave a lot of lint?"

boundaries, CD.  boundaries.

Charmin ultra with aloe - something like that.  not linty, strong, and cleans well. soft on the booty.

Try the Aquafresh extreme clean.  it gets all foamy in your mouth and cleans little nooks and crannies.

I tried the Charmin ultra strong once, I don't think it's very soft at all. Definitely no lint though. I'll only buy Charmin ultra soft. I don't have a problem with lint, and it just plain doesn't suck.

And as for toothpaste, I am and will always be a Crest kid. I mix it up as for which kind though, sometimes the gel, sometimes whitening, sometimes paste. No real reason why, except I think the whitening can wear away your enamel if you use it too much.  I think all other toothpastes taste icky.

What was that, pgeorgian?  Your typing looks like a bunch of gibberish to me.

Well I just got back from a torturous cleaning at the dentist, and was recommended Crest Pro Health. She gave me a $2 coupon for it, so I think I'll pick some up. Don't know if it's gel or not. I've been using Colgate Sensitive with whitening, I find it works well, and it's paste/gel mix. Side note, I've read that whitening toothpastes are too abrasive and can make sensitive teeth worse...I don't think they really do much for whitening anyway.

No suggestions for TP, mom gets whatever is on sale usually, I've never experienced any lint (lol), not something I want to ask my dad or brother about sorry.

i'm not surprised, CD.  not surprised at all.

suppose i should throw in a few more references to bodily functions to bring it down to earth for you.

Oh and get him a tongue scraper. I got one from the dentist, she said using a toothbrush for that isn't good enough (I thought it was :s). Most of the bacteria is on there = bad breath.

My boyfriend has a similar problem, CD.  He will only use Charmin (I think it's the Ultra Soft).  And we have tried them all.

We always use Crest...whichever one is on sale.  Once again, the boyfriend is picky about that too.  As long as it's Crest though, he doesn't care.

There are coupons in the Sunday paper quite frequently for Crest.  It goes on sale at Kroger and Meijer a lot too.
Well, I'm thinking I'll browse my Crest options, since that's what everyone else I've talked to recommends.  Still up in the air about the toilet paper, though.  Charmin is sounding promising, but the commercials annoy me so much. =(

Thanks for the help!  Except to pgeorgian, who is still typing gibberish.
