20 to go!! I need some saucy, supportive, soul-sisters!!
I'd like to start an intimate group with people who have a GREAT sense of humor, can be honest without being snide, don't mind divulging their ups and downs, and have some inspiring words of wisdom and support to share. I am looking for a few online accountablility pals to help me get over this last 20 pound hump!! I have lost 38 pounds. I know I am going to make it, it's just nice having some "slimming sisters" who have "been there" and are "going through that" to share the journey with. What do you say...are you up for the challenge???
Hey...sounds fun and exciting. I am on my 3rd day and I need to lose about 30-40 pounds. I don't own a scale right now but Id say I'm somewhere around 170 pounds and tired of all this extra weight! I'm very honest about ups and downs...although Id love there to be MORE ups..lol. I need someone to help motivate for exercise...provide challenges to each other..like do 50 sit-ups every hour..or something like that...Just being accountable to each other makes a huge difference. And if one says that they will do the challenge...and don't, the only person they would be cheating is themselves....so this weekend I will buy a scale and get started in posting accurate weight and loss, gains...ect. (Hopefully all losses!)
Sorry for all the rambling....lets lose some weight! ![]()
I'm in! I'm 43, have three kids (10, 8 and 2.5), and 31 pounds still to lose! I'm down 64 pounds so far, and I figure when I'm done, I will have lost an entire person (albeit a small one. Maybe a model. Or a horse jockey). I like laughing and making people laugh and REFUSE to grow up. Oh, and I have an evil plan to one day rule the universe. But first, the weight loss.
Sister, here I am. I've got 22.6 lbs left to my goal. I've been in this slump for 22 days at the same weight. Nothing is making the scale budge. I picked up my cat and reweighed the the other day. I found out that she weights 10.2 lbs, so I know the scale isn't broken! My cat wasn't happy because I've cut her back on her feedings. She's a small framed cat (if that makes any sense).
I am up to your challenge. I will be as supportive and unsnidely as possible. I'm sure there are others out there that feel like a "wide load" sign fits their mood on some days even after having a substantial loss. Write to me if you think I am someone you can relate to. I read your post and thought that you were someone I could enjoy writing to. It was eiher you or the gal wanting to go on the banana diet (yeesh!) :o). lol ~Tonnie btw, I liked your gallery pics.
Ok I would really love to join this group. I'm on the last 20lb stretch and I dont think I can do it without some serious motivation. All my friends/fam think I am pyscho (b/c I am not content w/the 100lb I've lost thus far), but I just want to for once in my life be in a "healthy range." I am 5'5 159/160 and would love to tone up a bit and see that scale hit 140!!!
Sexymartini ~ LOVE the name!!! Cute photo, too!! I'm jealous...I JUST made the 170's after 5 months and 38 pounds!!! Let's do it, girl!!! My goal is 20 more, but I'd GLADLY give 30 more!!! WOO-HOO...we're on our way!!
Phylbean ~ OMG!!! I think you might be my lost twin!!! I am 42, two kids (11 and 8) and am shooting for 20 more pounds, but would KILL to drop 30 more!! (Speaking of shooting and KILLing, let's aim for that horse jockey!!) I totally LIVE for laughter, my "crack" is making people laugh (when I say that I mean my "high," not that my butt-crack is making people laugh...although I'm sure that's totally in the realm of possibilities!!) AND people at work are always saying I have that "Peter Pan Syndrome" because I act like such a kid!!! Hey, I could be Cheney to your Bush (whoa, that doesn't sound right!!), or Joker to your Lex Luther!! Together, we can conquer the weight, then the WORLD!!!
Mommakitty ~ Once you un-stick that "wide-load" sign off your cat's furry, yet rotund butt, we can unite and start working on getting our slimming, yet still flabby and jiggly butts in shape!! Thanks for the compliment!
Yvarner ~ 100 pounds??!!?? You are my hero!!! WOW!!! I would be honored to tone and slim down another 20 or so with you by my online side!!!
Girls ~ I am 42 years old, 5'7", started at 216 (size 20) and currently at 178 (size 14 - up 2 pounds since Sunday - but I had emergency surgery on Tuesday to remove an ovarian cyst, and my left ovary and fallopian tube). I originally was aiming for 160 (never thinking I would actually get there), but I now think I could actually reach 150!!! How COOL would that be??!!?? Alright ladies, let's get ready to kick some online booty!!! There TRULY is power in numbers, so what do you say we stick together, inspire one another, kick each other's keisters when necessary, throw in some laughs and levity, and get to our goals TOGETHER??? LET'S DO THIS!!!!
Okay ladies...I lost 25 pounds, this year and I was doing great! I was on here constantly, drinking nothing but water, counting calories.....well I had a relapse and I gained 11 pounds. I feel swollen and large. I'm at 195 right now and I want to be 160...
I'm 26 young, with 2 kids, and is trying my hardest to eat right but with a fiance that orders double cheeseburgers from cheesecake factory he's not helping..I need the support and we all need the support, so I would love to join this group and help towards our goals.
Im in on this too. Have lost 23 lbs so far and have another 25 to go.. The scale is not moving like I want which is really upsetting me! I have a cruise to go to in 1 month and would really like to lose 10 more lbs. Im 159-162 as we speak And want to hit 150 before I arrive at the port. I'm not taking any "off days," Im going straigth through! Eating as much veggies as possible and two fruits a day because of the natural sugars. Don't wanna store any unneeded fat. My problem is getting my fibers in to excrete all I've taken in in one day. Anyone else have this problem? I'm still drinking my 6-8oz of h2o aday but I gotta keep at it in every possible way!

I'm still going at it and going strong. I weighed in at Weight Watchers this past week and I was excited to find that:

How's everyone else doing? I can't believe that I've been doing soo good. I forgot that I even posted in this forum. And looking back, I have now lost 16lbs since I posted in October. That's a complete 2 months! This is so exciting.
I'd love to get into this group too ladies! I have another 20 lbs to go to hit my original goal. I've lost 80 lbs so far on CC over the past 15 months and really want to be down to 175 by my 30th bday in February...I could definitely use some accountability and motivation.
So there's my goal...20 lbs by February, but I'd love to see about 35-40 lbs total come off before I try maintenance!
Tpinder ~ Congrats on the 25...the 11 is a WHOOPSIE!!! Darlin', I've got a hubby who eats a peanut butter and jelly sandwich after DINNER every night, and then scarfs down 4 - 6 popcicles and a bowl of ice cream EVERY night before bed!! You have to decide whether you want to be his eating partner, or his sexy, slimming sweetheart!! It took me 10 years to FINALLY decide to get back to SEXY!! (BTW ~ my new theme song is "Sexy Back!!") Don't waste as much time as I did!!
Bre137 ~ 10 pounds in a month is lofty, but totally attainable!! LEGUMES - lentils, pinto/navy/butter/kidney/black/garbanzo beans, split peas, etc... I also recommend the original Fiber One (sticks and twigs) cereal mixed with Fiber One yogurt. You'll be crappin' haystacks!!! ![]()
Saintlymama ~ Well, I'm the Cinner and you're the Saint!! What a well rounded group!! I came across CC by happenstance in July and it was truly a GODSEND!! I credit all my summer success to this website!! 80 pounds?? Remarkable!! (And I was stoked about my 38 pounds.) I want to be down to 165 by my birthday in January!!! We can be BODACIOUS BIRTHDAY BUDDIES!!!
My ULTIMATE goal was 160 by March, but NOW is to be 150 by the beginning of May. My cousin is getting married (in Indiana) at the end of May. I moved to Florida 4 years ago, and all my northern friends and family know me as a cheerfully chubby chick...okay, truth be told, they know me as a FRICKIN' FAT FEMALE!!! I haven't told them I've lost any weight and I would love to BLOW THEIR MINDS when I show up as a SMOKIN' HOT SIREN in a DROP DEAD GORGEOUS dress (hopefully anything under a size 10)!!! Would that not be a dream come true???? That could totally be a movie...starring Angelina Jolie as ME!!!
Well, girls, we've got to WORK IT!!! My doctor won't release me to go back to the gym for the next 2 weeks, but I recently discovered this "Body Pump" class that was kickin' my butt!! It works every muscle group, blasts some fabulous tunes, and is over in an hour!! I love it and can't wait to get back to it!! I am officially 3 pounds away from my wedding day weight!! After that, my next mini-goal is the 60's...go-go boots, the bob, and platinum lips!!! I'll be leaving the 70's behind...so it's so long Bee Gee's, bellbottoms, and platform shoes!!
cinfuldiva-- OMG! I would love to be where you are at! Tell me what's a week for your dieting and exercising...? I need some motivation and energy...uuuh...i weighed myself and I gained another pound! my problem is I'm hungry at work and when i get home I act like the cookie monster!!!!! I started gaining weight by buying food in the cafetaria, like pizza, cookies, fried chicken...*(how can I complain???) and i stopped that. then I would have nothing to bring to work to eat..so i would basically starve..I might bring a orange or something..so when i get home..im racing to the fridge and im acting like a food maniac...then I cook and i eat while im cooking then..i eat and sometimes i have seconds...I'm trying to get back the way I used to be. eating good food at work..so I wont be starving..I was sooo motivated...and kept my nose up at anything fried or breaded...how can I get back to that? I want to be a size 10..so bad but right now im like a 13-14...and i see a double chin creeping.....aaaahhh! lol
I don't see our group...whats our name and game?
First things first...I am technologically challenged!! I don't know how to set up groups, or names, or games. So, let's just keep adding to this thread, okay? Simply "tag" this thread and...VOILA!!! There is our fun-loving, eclectic, and intimate group!!
Second, you have to morph from the cookie monster into Oscar the Grouch!!! Keep your ONE TRACK focus!!! LOSING WEIGHT, GETTING FIT, and BEING HEALTHY!!! I am MUCH older than you, which, lucky for you (bitch - OOPS!! That was a slip, SORRY!! JK - You have to understand I make silly and PURELY inappropriate jokes ALL THE TIME!!! PLEASE let me know if it offends you.) means that you can loose weight easier and faster than me!! I am averaging about 8 pounds a month. Here's what I aim for: consuming 1200 - 1500 calories per day, exercising 3-5 times per week, and ABSOLUTELY NO-ZIP-ZERO-ZILCH FRIED OR "SUGARY" FOODS!!!! I allow myself a "cheat" meal once every 6 weeks. Here's an example of my daily menu: Breakfast: 5 scrambled egg whites with salsa OR South Beach Peanut Butter Cereal Bar (highest protein, decent fiber, and lowest carbs I've found). Snack: 1/4 cup almonds OR a small piece of fruit OR baggie of cut up veggies OR 6-12 Sundried Tomato Triscuits. (I try to get in 3 20oz bottles of water throughout the day, too.) Lunch: Grilled chicken breast, steamed broccoli, and nuked sweet potato OR pouch of "flavored" tuna, big mixed salad, and LIGHT dressing. (I canNOT and will NOT do FAT FREE dressings...they are NASTY!!!) Snack: (Same type, but different choice from snacks listed above.) Dinner: Ground turkey and brown rice stuffed red pepper with LIGHT cheese sprinkled on top OR baked fish, steamed green beans, whole wheat pasta with 1/2 cup of marinara sauce. And every night I allow myself an 8pm "treat" of one Weight Watcher's Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwich. My 3-5 days at the gym are EITHER 30 minutes of cardio (treadmill-walk 2 minutes, run 1 minute, repeat OR eliptical) and then the 1 hour "Body Pump" class OR 30 minutes of cardio and then 45 minutes of free weights/machines alternating arms/chest one day and legs the next with abs on every day I go.
So, that's it, sister!! Glean whatever wisdom you can from that. Every BODY is different and will react differently to diet and exercise. You have to experiment until you find what works for you. BUT (and that's a mighty big butt) you have to "switch it up" every month or so. Your body gets used to the routine and needs to be thrown a "curve ball" every 4-6 weeks!! I HIGHLY recommend logging EVERY CRUMB that passes your lips for the next month.
Good morning you untechno-geek. I was able to tag it, I didn't know that could be done. I hope it's helpful to others as well! I nominated you as group leader, or should we call you "the Queen"? I learned yesterday that while I'm getting plenty of fiber, I'm probably not getting enough good fats, which is why I'm at a 23 day standoff with my scale. I'm not going to let it win! I have enough challenges with living things, I don't need problems coming from an inanimate object as well (I could swear I heard it laugh when I got on it this morning). As soon as I scrape some money together I'm going to buy a bottle of olive oil. I was thinking about getting a can of 10/W40, but that probably has too many calories
. I've also got a list a mile long of good oil foods. Since when did they change the size of a regular can of tuna down to 5 oz? Why didn't the world let me know? Aarggh. I guess it's that resizing thing that seems to be appearing on almost every food item you buy.
My oatmeal is calling me and I'm hungry. I can't believe I go to bed at night wondering what I'm going to eat for breakfast. It's almost like an obsession. Some might call it pre-planning, I think it's insane (for me anyway). I wonder how oatmeal tastes with some olive oil drizzled over it. Someone want to check that out for me and let me know? ~Tonnie
Hello
I have been on this weight loss journey for the past year. I did great in the first six months and lost 37lbs. I still have another 12lbs to go. In the last 6 months I have not been sticking with it. I want to do this and need some friends to encourage me. I joined this group yesturday and I am very excited to lose weight again and to reach my fitness goals.
Here-unnastyfy your attitude about FF salad dressings- Walmart (Great Value) makes an excellend FF Italian salad dressing that has only 10 calories per 2 T and tastes great. No BS there. I use it on my sandwiches exclusively and douse vegetables and have used it as a marinade on chicken. Also, it's $1.50 per bottle at least here in my neck of the woods.
GOOD MORNING LADIES!!!
bre137~ We have very similar stats! You can def lose the 10lbs before the cruise--no one said it would be easy but I got your back!!! What are you doing for excercise? Are you counting calories, if so what is your daily intake? I'm definitely having that same problem (getting my fibers in to excrete all I've taken in in one day), and I am eating the fiber one products in addition to green, leafy veggies, BUT IT IS NOT WORKING!!!!
cinfuldiva~I totally agree with you regarding "logging EVERY CRUMB that passes your lips." That is the ONLY way to hold yourself accountable for what you are putting in your body!!!
tpinder~ Sounds like your body is going into starvation mode and reacting accordingly. I would suggest eating every 2-3hrs (sounds like alot but its what I do and it has been working). My coworkers tease me all the time saying, "For someone who wants to lose weight, you sure are always eating!" I don't pay any attention to the comments though (1st b/c they are ALL skinny and 2nd b/c I know it works!) You were asking about diet and working out. I eat between 1200-1500 calories/day and I try to burn 700 calories at least 5/week.
~CHECK-IN TIME: I weigh in on Friday mornings and this morning the scale said 158.8, so lets round that to 159. I'm shooting for 3lbs every two weeks and last Friday's weight was 162 (and that was only after one week)!!! I think I can do this but not without you ladies' support and motivation!!!
Tonnie ~ Thanks! My hubby sometimes calls me "Queenie," but that's for entirely different reasons!! Hmmm, good fats. Well, aside from olive oil, there's salmon, almonds, pumpkin seeds, you can even buy over-the-counter supplements - fish oil and/or flaxseed oil, but consuming them in natural foods is better for you. I'd steer clear of the 10/W40 and I don't think Quaker makes a very good Olive Oil Oatmeal.
They may have changed some of the cans of tuna, but I'd stick to the original size and eat the whole can. It's low in calories and high in protein. BTW, I'll try your FF Italian suggestions and get back to you...jury's still out!!
g15lbs ~ Hey!! You're at 37, I'm at 38!! WOO-HOO!! I WISH I only had 12 more to go!! I've got another 20-30 to go. (20 to my original goal, but now I'm aiming for 30.) We can kick those pounds to the curb!!!
Yvarner ~ Pump up your legumes - fiber and protein. Also, adding pure canned pumpkin adds a lot of fiber and some yummy sweet goodness to stuff!! I make a FABULOUS "mock pumpkin pie" that several of my co-workers begged me for the recipe!! It's simple, delicious, and PACKED with protein and fiber!! 1 cup of 1% cottage cheese, 1 cup of pure pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie mix), 1/4 cup splenda (more or less to your taste), a hearty shake of cinnamon, a PINCH of ground clove and ground nutmeg...mix it up and TA-DA!!! Mock pumpkin pie just in time for autumn!! WAY TO GO on the weigh in!!!! YIPPEE!!
Just a quick FYI ~ I have been off all week due to my unexpected surgery. Once I go back next Tuesday, I'll be lucky to log in every day. I just didn't want you to think I was all hot and heavy into this group and then ditched you!! I'll still keep up, continue sharing, and rely on you gals to get me through, but it will be at a little less frequent.
TRY THE PIE and let me know what you think!! Let's keep sharing little tips, "cheats," and pick-me-ups!! Have a fabulous Friday and appreciate the fact that the beauty looking back at you in the mirror has been working her ass off for you!!!
Argh...its dinner...what are you ladies making tonight? I'm thinking grilled chicken and roasted carrots and potatoes...that will warm the house up! Any other grand dinner ideas?
I make a DELICIOUS chicken pot pie that is "diet friendly." In fact, a friend asked me for this recipe yesterday and it made me so hungry for it, I made it last night for dinner!!
You cook up 3 or 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts in some Pam, cut it into chunks, and set aside. Then saute some garlic, onion, baby carrot, diced celery, and fresh broccoli flowerettes in Pam and a little fat free chicken broth. When they are nice and tender, I mix them with the chicken and a couple of cans of Campbell's Healthy Request (fat free/low fat) Cream of Chicken soup. Then I pour that into two deep dish pie crusts (my only "indulgence" in the WHOLE recipe) and bake it at 350 for about 35 minutes. (You may want to pre-bake the crusts for 10 or 15 minutes so it starts to crisp before adding the pot pie filling.) OR you could pour the pot pie filling into a large corningware baking dish WITHOUT a crust and mix up a little "thin" bisquick to top it with for an upper "crust" - again, the only "indulgent" part of the pie!!
My entire family LOVES this recipe and with it being fall, it's PERFECT comfort food without the guilt!! If not tonight, try it some time and let me know what you think.
That does sound good...I may have to try that. I have a similar recipe but make the crust out of whole wheat bread dough...almost like a chicken pot pie bread bowl. I haven't made it in ages.
