Need Snack Ideas, not fruit!!!
I get so hungry in the afternoons. I like to eat fruit but after while i get fruited out. So does anyone have some good healthy snacks that I can eat and not feel guilty about? I appreciate some input. Thanks!

I am a vegetarian, so I am one to scoop up nuts. Even if you get the honey glazed prepackaged stuff, sometimes you can find it with low sodium. Yes nuts are high in fat, but the right nuts give you good fats. Plus they are a protein blast and that leads to feeling full. I generally eat only 2 maybe 3 table spoons of nuts and I am happy... plus I can make that last all afternoon if I want, eating them one at a time.
Try and find unsalted. I myself prefer raw unsalted way over roasted with salt. The trick is to get the good nut without adding alot of sodium to turn it into a terrible snack. In the end though, go for what personally you like. ~ Lost Artist

I agree with lost artist - unsalted mixed nuts are a great snack. Planters makes a good unsalted blend. Another good snack is a slice of Healthy Life All Natural 100% Whole Wheat Bread (90 cal.) toasted with a tablespoon of Naturally More peanut butter (85 cal.). Eggo Nutrigrain pancakes (3 - 240 cal.) microwaved with a cup of frozen blueberries (microwaved for 1-2 minutes, 70 cal.) poured over is a great meal or a great snack. Or cut up the pancakes and drizzle a tbsp. of maple syrup on them - Yum! Weight Watchers makes a good cookies and cream ice cream bar for a sweet fix - 140 cal. All-Bran with Yogurt Bites (160 cal.) with a cup of skim milk (85 cal.) gets in almost half your fiber and a chunk of calcium. 12 oz. of 8th Continent Light Chocoalte Soymilk is just 135 cal. and tastes delicious. Hope this helps.
Yeah, get some shelled nuts. It will take you longer to get them out, so you are not tossing huge handfulls into your mouth.
Some of the things I like to snack on (besides fruits and veggies - I agree, you get sort of fruited/veggied out after a while):
I will also drink lots of water throughout the day to help me feel full. Hope that helps.
- Yoplait Whips - esp the chocolate flavored ones
- Rice cake with slice of cheese, or light spreading of 'spreadable cheese'
- soup (clear brothed is better choice)
- a few saltines, or melba rounds/snacks
- popcorn (seasoned, no butter)
- herbal tea or crystal light
- pudding cup (or jello cup)
- toast (or english muffin) with a light spreading of peanut butter (or butter)
- dry-roasted peanuts, unsalted (1 oz - about 1/2 a handful)
- hard boiled egg, sliced
- bowl of cereal (fave is cheerios) with skim or 1% milk

Thanks! Now i have no excuse not to get some healthy snacks lol. I have plenty of ideas.
For non-fruity snacks, I love a cup of light miso soup. Put one T in a cup of hot h2o and you have a warm, filling protein. Even better with thinky sliced scallions and mushrooms. 25 kcals and soup is so filling and nurturing.
I'm a huge fruit person, but if we're low on fruit or I'm not in the mood for it, I like to make salads. We have countless kinds of salad dressings, so it makes for a neat variety.
