Need someone to lose weight with me, once and for all

I am a 17-year-old who is 5'7 and weighs 153. I want to get down to 135. I don't feel hugely overweight, I just am a bit self-conscious and want to get that extra weight off of me, once and for all. I played soccer in high school, so I would work out a ton, but the weight never came off. My New Years resolution is to shed these few pounds that refuse to come off of me. Anyone want to do weigh-ins with me every week or so? I need to get motivated to make my final push in losing this weight.

Yeah this Friday should definately be the cut off, but no problem on you two joining. The more the merrier. How tall are you guys, struggs and alicandra? Hehe, I just had one of those nice dark chocolate lindt balls...i feel dead guilty, but it was within my calorie allowance so its fine! 

I'm new to this whole thing, so tell me what to do and I'll do it.

Yeah that is totally fine. We are cutting off by Friday so no big deal. And what do you mean make a new thread over in G+C? Yeah I will do whatever, I just don't know what you mean. And I know what you mean about feeling dead guilty. Had way too much German Chocolate Cake today...I will have to do some major excercising tomorrow.

Hey can I jump in too before you cut off?

i'm 18 189lbs trying to get down to 140lbs by about june :)

I wouldnt mind joining if thats ok. Motivation is my biggest flaw so this would definately help. Are you guys all from the US?

wow, I just saw you post, and I must say that I am prod of what you guys are doing! great support and great friends!

For a idea to stay motivated. . .    maybe sign up for a yoga class or maybe a boxing/karate class (a great workout that is fun!). I love doing taekwondo, keeps my in shape, having fun, learning new things and having new friends. But with any class, you would having to find time for about three(3) classes a week. but make it a habit, it will be worth it in the long run.

That is exactly the kind of stuff I like hearing, thanks for that idea. I don't have a membership to a gym though, so what are you ideas on work out videos and stuff, like tae-bo?

videos are a great idea! you can do the workout in the morning/evening/night or if you have fifteen mins, turn on the tape (it may be in the beginning of a workout or the middle/end, does not matter), and go have a bit of fun. belly dancing is a lot of fun. and a great for abs! When Im feeling in a funky mood, i put in my old copy of "Sweating to the Oldies" with Richard Simmons!! He is the Best!

there are all kinds of different workout videos out there. tae-bo is just a starting line, you have the hole open road ahead.

some ideas: yoga, belly dancing, Ball workouts (working with that large rubber ball), dancing, tai-chi, etc.

my favorite video was "Hawaiian dancing". I got to learn how to tell a story with my hands and body (and I quite sore to boot afterward!). I wish I could find my copy, of find a place that would have one. . . .

I'm 5'7", 166 trying to get to 145 as my first goal, maybe lower after that, we'll see how it goes! Also I'm 21 so I feel olllld compared to you guys haha :-)

 

mell701 I just discovered my parents old sweatin' with the oldies tapes and i'm excited to try them out. it looks pretty hilarious! 

I have the ministry of sound pump it upworkout DVD. Its a right laugh and it definately breaks a sweat lol

lol, mozart_nyc thats sooo great!  and you are right, it can be very funny at times. I like seeing all the different kinds of outfits that they wore during that time:)  but just between us, sometimes i feel a little stupid doing those movies.  could it be because of the music?!?!I will have to think about this. . . . .

 178 to 172 :)

Down 2lbs to 141! Yay

I have my economics AS on thursday though, so I'm not going to do as much exercise as usual

but still, another lb down would be nice, to get to 140 again (stupid Christmas!!!) 

hey! sorry I've been away for a week, I'm 5"1 (I know teeny :P)

Amiees I have that too although I struggle to finish it.
