Hi Jacqueline, I'm Misami, just turned 19 and I understand your issue completely. I've been dieting since January, I got ten pounds away from my goal...this last month I have been continually stressed and upset and now I am 2 pounds away from where I started. I wish I knew how to separate the food and the emotion but it's a lot more difficult than one thinks. I'm sorry I don't have any great advice, but I understand completely and will listen if you ever need a vent. I find that helps a lot! Good luck with everything!

Hi guys,

My name is Rachael. I am also an emotional eater...even when Im happy! lol. Anyways, I recently read a book by Paul McKenna called I Can Make You Thin. Throughout the book I learned a lot of things about eating, and about emotional eating. It also comes with a hypnosis CD, which is really relaxing. It cost like 10$ at Barnes and Noble (I think it was on sale), but so far I feel great and I am not restricting myself from eating any foods. Even better, I have lost weight. So, I would suggest looking into it :)

I too am an emotional eater and it is hard. What works for me is to stop the action as quickly as you can and turn it around and go in a positive direction not being too hard on yourself when you do make a mistake. For every positive  association you build in healthy eating hopefully it will counteract the negative association of emotional eating. Sometimes counselling helps give you tools or reading books on the subject can g=help give you tools to fight emotional eating. A journal helps me alot.
