Need suggestions on snacks for work...
Hi! I just joined today hoping I can get to 130 lbs FINALLY! I just went on vacation and you know how you eat more on vacation? Well I left weighing 135 and I weighed myself when I got back and it said 138!!! I was so upset, so now I am trying to get down to what I really want to weigh which is 130. I'm 5'7" and a half. I struggle with eating right. I LOVE LOVE LOVE chocolate, so I really have to limit myself or just not buy it at all. And at work (I work in an office) and have a hard time figuring out what type of snacks to bring to get me through the 8 hours I don't take a lunch, so I need desk snacks, any suggestions?
Luna Bar -- about 3pm or so. Eat it slowwwwwwwly with a cup of coffee/decaf water -- anything -- seems like a real treat!
Now it does have 170 calories -- but it has lots of protein to pull you through the next few hours. Just limit your lunch and save caloric room for it.
My favorites: Lemon -- Oatmeal Raisin -- Cranberry Nut or Chocolate Peppermint (tastes like a girl scout thin mint cookie.) It makes me feel sinful while getting some good stuff into me.
I don't like artificial sugar -- so this one fits the bill. Usually you can get the for $1 or so.
The other thing is celery sticks........ a nice big bag of them -- the crunch is very satisfying.
Hope this helps.
And don't fret the post vacation weight thing -- get on board hard for 1 week and you will have dropped 80% of it -- perhaps a pound to go and you will lose that plus 1 the next week! Trust me -- my vacation usually put 7-8 lbs on me in a week -- by the next week I am down 6 and then pop down two more!
I got a big container of almonds to keep in my desk. The almonds are great for helping me get through an afternoon without getting too hungry. I eat 11 because that is half an ounce, nuts are high in fats but almonds are still very good for you.
The protein helps me get through the afternoon a lot better than a sugary snack, even the bars that are supposed to be healthy. Almonds are way fewer calories than a bar.
I've found that it helps me to take out exactly the amount I plan to eat, not just grab a big handful or leave the whole container out open on my desk, because then I will just keep eating them. I think a good think about almonds is I can always grab an extra 5 or so and not feel too guilty. They stay fresh for a long time so are a great healthy snack to stash in your desk.
I also try to bring an apple or other piece of fruit every day.
apples, oranges, and banannas. They pack easily, are very low calorie, filling, hike up your metabolism, taste great, and are very good for you.
