I would really need some support!
I lost 25lbs/11kg in 2 months.I started to exercise the second month.Pretty intense for a beginner,5 days a week between 1 and 2 hours, grouplessons(heavy impact)and cardio fitness.I upped my calories and introduced nuts. Now I stopped losing after 2 weeks into my new exercise rich life and for a few days now I started to gain.It is making me really sad...I feel that I am doing my very best and still nothing.I dont mind not losing after years of jojo dieting keeping weight for a while is also refreshing but when I see the scale moving up (slowly but surely) really makes me ache.I dont want to sound deseperate I just need some advice and some help to handle it.Thank you all:)
FIrst of all Congratulations on your weight loss! 25 lbs is a HUGE amount to lose in 2 months. You really shouldn't be losing more than 1-2 lbs a week, about 8 lbs a month. I know you can lose more in the first few weeks of changing your diet and drinking more water. I see that you want to continue to lose 10lbs a month which is a lot. As you know you don't want to lose it too quickly as it is not healthy and doesn't tend to stay off in the long run. I am still working on the last ten lbs I need to lose and haven't lost more than about 1lb a week. Aggravating, yes but I want to do it right so it stay off this time.
My guess is that now that you are exercising you are building muscle which is heavier than fat. Don't stop exercising but continue to make sure your deficit doesn't go above 1000 calories a day. You can reach your goal it just might take a little longer than you hoped. Plus think how much better you feel when you exercise and eat right!
Good Luck!
Hi there , well first of all I just want to tell you that losing that much weight is such a short time is fabulous - well done . ihave been trying to loose weight for almost a year and have only just lost 10kgs so what you have done is inspiring to me .
Now back to the matter at hand it is my experience that when you start to exercise and build up muscle you start to put on weigh not because you are getting fatter but because muscle weighs more than fat . so you are losing the weight it is just over shadowed by the muscle gain . keep it up and all of a sudden it will come off !!
Chin up , you are not doing anything wrong
hope that help
I am no expert but I suspect your body is just adjusting to the weight loss.
It seems to me that when we lose weight quickly our bodies think it is a famine or something and our metabolism changes so that we will survive the famine. But that usually means that we store more from what little we eat.
The things I have learned is the importance of eating a variety of calories from one day to another.
For example:
Monday 1200
Tuesday 1600
Wednesday 1300
Thursday 1500
This way your body doesn't get the idea that there is a famine and your metabolism doesn't change to store more from your foods.
What I am doing right now is eating less on Wed and Fridays then on the other days of the week. I normally have between 1500 and 1600 cal. a day. On Wed and Fridays I have around 1300. This way I vary my calories a bit. I know there will be days that I will go over 1600 too. So far I have not done that but I know that once in a while I can if eating out at a resturant or eating at someones home or maybe eating at a dinner at church, etc.
I am also watching to make sure I get enough fiber. If you get constipated, the scale does go up. So, I use benefiber powder in my milk. I can't taste it but it adds a good source of fiber on top of the veggies and fruits I eat. Talk to your doctor about this of course. Mine said to add it gradually. I am up to 4 teaspoons a day. The packaging suggests 6 teaspoons a day but 4 is doing the job for me.
BTW, great initial weight loss! I am just starting once again and last week I lost 5 pounds. But, my goal isn't to stay at that level. I want to be healthy. But I would like to lose more then a pound a week too. There are happy mediums. Check with your doctor about what he thinks is best for you. Mine is ok with 5 pounds at my current weight but he said not to go lower then 1200 cals a day ever.
