Hi I'm 24 years old and I've had on and off depression since forever. I know most of the time people have problems losing weight by over eatting, but I have the opposite problem. Because of my depression I never get hungry. I know that to lose weight I need to eat the right amount of calories, but I can't. I never get hungry and if I try and force myself to eat, it makes my stomach hurt. My food for most days is maybe a bowl of cereal for breakfast (sometimes I don't eat breakfast), most days I don't eat lunch, if I do it's a snack bar, then half of what you would think of as a normal sized dinner.
Does anyone know of a way to get more calories into my diet, or to trick my body to eat more? I would be open to any advice.
Hi Flsoutherngirl,
I generally have the opposite problem, except if I'm so depressed I can't leave the house, then I'm not too keen on eating. however, that is neither here nor there. What I was thinking is that your hurting stomach may be due to your meds, ( if you are on meds) I have a similar problem , and though it sounds cliche, a good probiotic has really helped. Perhaps if you get high calorie meal replacement shakes, and drink them even when you are just thirsty. Do you have any interest in eating soup and stuff? switch your cereal up for a smoothie? maybe with some weight gain stuff from the health food store?
hi, i wish i had your appetite when depressed, im the exact opposite. let's offer our dieting problems and solutions to God, i know He will help us. and think of the smiles and admiration we'd get if we get our goal.
