Hey:

I have been recovering from anorexia for almost a year now.  For the past couple of months I have been eating well over 2500 calories( though I dont count anymore: it was from a meal plan designed by my nutritionist).  My problem is being at home now.  I am never full when I am eating or after I am eating.  I feel like I dont have the full "cue".  I have learned to recognize my hunger "cue" and eat when I am hungry however I dont know if I would know when to stop.  I have read some things on this site about anorexics who almost become bingers?  I dont know if thats what I am turning into?? Because I  want to eat because I am hungry.

It is just getting frustrating because I watch others around me in my family for normal portions or whatever and after they say they are full im still sitting there like so whats next?  I know the obvious answer is just eat more?  But its when is enough enough for my body.  I know it was in starvation mode and its refeeding, but in time, will my body learn the full "cue"?  My friend just says trust your body.  I guess it will just take time.

Sorry if this is offensive or anything to anyone.  But has anyone experienced the same thing?

Have you been gaining weight over the last couple of months? I have never had anorexia, but I did calorie starve myself for a period in high school and I definitely have had many tendencies toward binge eating.

I think it takes time and practice, when we are food obsessed one way or the other-it is hard to pay attention to the signals that people withoiut food issues recognize. If you have neen gaining weight and are at a healthy weight now, it may be time to try and listen to your body a little better. I know if I eat too much I feel physically uncomfortable and i think about that before I overindulge. But I have only learned this in the last few months. (And I am almost 40)

Also, for me, carby foods leave me feeling more hungry and less satisfied-I stll eat plenty of whole grains and veggies-about 40 % of my diet-but I try to get about a 100 grams of protein a day and have healthy fats. These leave me feeling more satisfied.

Good luck to you.

Make sure you get a good, round amount of everything in your diet. Fats included. Also make sure you're getting a level amount of fibre.

After that - yes, it does come back. I find I finally get hungry/full signals again, though I have to admit, this only returned when I reached my goal/happy weight.

So you think it comes back when your body will have his ,,goal'' weight ? (that means we have to gain weight, right ?)

I have same problem :(

yes gain weight haha.

i am working on that. its a steady progress so I will just go with the flow for now.  Thanks for everyones input.  I will just give it time and my body to adjust.

thanks for answers, it is good to know that im not only one who have this problem.... Is there any logically reason why it is happening ? Dont feeling food in stomatch ...
