I Never Heard This Part About Losing Weight...

Quote  |  Reply

I've seen a zillion articles, documentaries, commercials, etc. regarding weight loss during my lifetime and not a single time was it mentioned / printed that when one loses weight, one can't get warm!

For most of my life I've been overweight and in being so I have always been "hot-blooded".  There are only a few occasions in my life that I've worn a coat! In fact, I had to buy one this winter because I didn't own a coat.  I noticed a slight chill inside me around September. Right now it's 68 degrees inside my house and I'm sitting at this computer wearing 3 shirts, a jacket, 2 pairs of socks, hiking boots, tights, jeans, a hat and until I started typing, lined leather gloves.  The outside temp. is 14 degrees and granted, for this part of NC, that's kind of cold. But still!

Why have I never heard anyone mention the cold factor about losing weight?OR...is it just me? I had a complete physical / blood work in Nov...everything perfect.

I still have 40 lbs. to go! Is anyone else going through this?

Have a fun day all!

I am down about 17 lbs from 244 and I am really cold often....it helps if I am well hydrated (water helps keep you warm), and stretching/exercising (as others mentioned).

Muscle is a pretty good insulator to and I notice less coldness as I become more toned.

Yep, completely true. I never had any trouble dealing with the cold. After I lost 30 pounds in 2006, freezing all the time. I hate the winters now, as I spent a good amount of time outdoors. Now I love the heat :) Everyone else is sweating and I'm like, o, yeah, this is GREAT.

*sitting on my hands as I read this.

I walk around with my arms crossed and my cuffs pulled over my hands like gloves. It's not as bad as it was a couple of months ago, but I am still cold.

I'm glad I found this thread. I've always been one of those who adores the cold, loathes the heat and summer. Well, I've been FREEZING ever since the temperatures here in Jersey dropped. My wife, who used to be the one in the relationship who's always cold, kept telling me it probly was the weight loss (I've dropped about 37 pounds since last winter), but I didn't believe it. Still have another 12 pounds to go. Not looking forward to this winter. Lol.

This fall has turned pretty cold out here. If I didn't work at a computer I would probably wear gloves all the time. I live in sunny Southern California - I really feel for you people who live in places that actually get cold.
