Never mind 1400-1500, its hard staying under 2000!
Any other teens finding it hard to even keep it in the 1000's?
I try everyday and by the end of the day I still end up over 2000. I have constant hunger and I hate it! this is what I ate today
-cereal (170)
-protein bar (320)
-subway (400ish)
-1/2 cup frozen yogurt (100)
-1/2 cup rice (105)
-chicken (130)
-little bit of salad with low cal dressing (40)
-some rice crackers with light cream cheese (125)
-2 cups of tea with honey and milk (110)
-a bit of black licorice (80ish)
and then after that decent day of 1580 I decide to treat myself to a piece of cake my mom made from her cooking light cook book. and I ended up having 2 decent size pieces (about 3 servings) and I end my day at about 2300!
I used to be able to easily eat about 1400-1500 a day and I lost about 55 pounds. Now I've gained back 14 pounds and its sooo hard to even stay under 2000 cause Im soo hungry all the time! I dont normally eat cake like I did tonight and junk food and stuff even when I eat healthy it takes me so much food to feel satisfied.
anyone else?
yeah I guess I coulda done without the protein bar.
I only ate almost 1200 cals today. I didn't think it was that hard. I think it depends on what you eat. and I drink a lot off water too. I"m 15 btw.
If you skipped the cake and protein bar, you would have been under 1300. What's so hard about that? Were you famished before you ate that first slice of cake? What about the 2nd one? What about eating a 100-calorie granola bar instead of a 320 calorie meal-replacement protein bar?
It sounds to me like you're not paying attention.
yeah...definetly nix the protein bar...have a piece of fruit or some yogurt or string cheese, but 320 is a lot for snack. Try oatmeal instead of cold cereal for breakfast...or incoporate some lean protein into breakfast to keep you full longer. Try an apple instead of licorice for a more satisfying snack, or replace the frozen yogurt with something with more nutritional value. Maybe cut some calories by using less milk and honey in your tea, or skipping the cream cheese on your crackers. If you get hungry, try munching on raw veggies or sugar-free jello or air-popped popcorn. I think you're still going to have trouble though if you don't address some issues...like what made you eat 3 servings of cake in the first place. Sometimes its more about self control than fulfilling hunger.
Yeah there's definitely no need for a 320 calorie protein bar! Try having a piece of fruit instead or some other lower calorie snack. Can you drink tea without honey or milk? Maybe just add a packet of splenda or even sugar (which is really only 15 cals). Eat more of that salad too. It will fill you up with very few calories so you might not be hungry for the cake later.

Eating less than 1200 calories at 15 is not a good thing. You need more calories than that - your brain, muscles, bones and organs are all still growing, and so you need to eat more food than a grown adult - and even for adults, the 1200 thing is a minimum boundary, not a bar which you have to keep under.
Woah. I'm kinda shocked at all the replies berating you for eating over 2000 calories, and people saying how little they eat. If you guys are teens, and if you exercise (I'm assuming you do,and if not, you should) you should be eating at least 1800 calories. Seriously. I used to do the whole "OMG I ate 1680 calories I'm gonna get fat!" thing and I was miserable. Now I don't really even count calories. If you find yourself eating more than you intended, it's probably because you're not eating enough earlier in the day. The reason you guys are getting hungry on 1400 calories a day is becuase it's not enough and your body is trying to tell you that. Still not convinced? Think about it like this: Is it better to eat a couple hundred more calories, say 1800 a day, of good, healthy food or eat 1400 calories and then binge on crap later and go over 2000? Oh, by the way you could use more fruits and veggies in your diet.
yes well I know that but whenever I eat over that I just feel gross. I usually eat less than 1200 during the week but more on the weekends because I"m out with my friends but I still feel guilty anyway.
Some days are easier than others, but I know what you mean. I have to eat really light in the morning and save some calories for my night-time hunger!
