Hi Im Patti and again Im new. I have in the past lost 56 lbs but 35 of it has come back.
I need lots of help and encouragement, Im not so good on emails but Im going to try to committ to posting something every day.
I am a sweet eater and right now am searching for a lower fat method for brownies...Ive heard you can use applesause instead of the oil and egg, is that true ???
I live in Belleville Il and would love to find a diet / exercise buddy.
Thanks for being here
Patti
Welcome back Patti. I've come and gone a few times too, along with my weight loss/gain! I am a huge sweets eater too, and it's my biggest challenge. The brownies with applesauce taste great. They cut the fat of the oil, but they still have the sugar, still it's better than making them with oil. I've also started sucking on small squares of dark chocolate from Ghirardhelli. I find that sucking on it forces me to taste it, and so far, I've only needed a small square to satisfy my chocolate urge, whereas in the past, I've gobbled up four chocolate bars without even tasting them! Keep moving forward and you will get where you want to go!
Thanks for the advice and support. its nice to know Im not the only sweet freak
I've seen some recipes that call for substituting some or half of the fat (oil, shortening, butter) with applesauce. Example: http://diabeticgourmet.com/recipes/html/169.s html Apparently, using applesauce can make the brownies or cake dry, but I think you just have to find the right recipe.
My trick is this: Plan for your sweet treat. That way, it doesn't make you feel guilty when you eat it. I'm a big fan of Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwiches. If I plan to have one after dinner, I don't feel like having seconds anymore. Plus, I make sure the dessert doesn't make me go over on fat or calories.
Good plan indeed. Thanks for the help
Hi, Patti
I am new here, too. I love brownies, and yes, I have made them with applesauce in some instances - and they turned out great! - there was a good recipe for them on the food network site a couple of years ago. If you try to bake them, let me know how it turns out!
Hi and thanks for your post, Yes I made the brownies and they are really good but a bit on the crumbly side. Not that it matters but that was the only difference I can see in them.
My Grandkids loved them.
So since you are new also, How's it going so far ??
