New body...old clothes! What are you doing with your clothes???

Quote  |  Reply
I am so happy I lost my weight. But now I have no clothes! I am worried about buying new clothes and giving away my old clothes. Will I be this new size for good now? What are you doing with your clothes??

anything that looked tired..i threw out...

anything that looked new i kept for comfy days...

but now upon review comfy days are too big so i am taking them to a resale shop to trade in for smaller stuff.
I am selling my old clothes on Ebay, I dont want them in the house!
I only want to drop one dress size, I've not bought many clothes since i went up a size, Just a few pairs of jeans and tops, So i might just keep them. I like them. Obviously if it where more i'd either sell them or donate them to charity
I gave all my old jeans and shirts to my friend, who's heavier than me (now).

But now my second set of jeans are getting a bit roomy... I probably have one more size to drop before I'm done... lol.

Throwing away? Selling? Donate them to charity. Local church, goodwill, hurricane relief. I split them up between charities myself.

I've gone the charity route also.  I feel like not keeping the too large sizes around is a commitment to keeping off the weight I've lost.
I totally agree! All of my 350lb fat clothes are long gone!! Next to go is my 250lb fat clothes! :)

I've kept one pair of my "big pants" (in the corner of the closet) as a reminder of how much weight I've lost - it can be a big motivator on days I'm not satisfied with how my hips/thighs look, or when I just can' t seem to find the will power to change into exercise clothes.

Everything else went to good will and/or the local women's shelter.

all good suggestions above, but if you have a cherished piece, (a nice cocktail dress or dinner outfit) that you really love and would still wear if it wasn't too big ... find a good alterations shop.
I am keeping my big clothes (they are only 2 sizes bigger) for a little while longer, and then I will probably donate them.  I recently went through my closet and bagged a bunch of clothes that were too small for me, but I didn't think I would wear, even if they did fit me.  A lot of them were from pre-baby days and were a little too low cut for my taste nowadays.  The only reason why I was hanging onto them was because they were expensive name brand items, but I figure if someone else could use them, then why waste the room in my closet?  I still have no clue what I am going to do with them all.  I was thinking either Goodwill, or dropping them in the Clothing Donation bin outsde of Walmart.  My husband wants me to sell them on eBay, but I just do't have th patience to do all of that.
I am in the same boat. I have very expensive clothes that I bought last winter. Not sure what to wear this winter. My body keeps changing because I am still working on my diet and workout. Don't want to buy new clothes.
I kept my clothes for a year (just to be sure I didn't need them anymore) then I gave them to good will... they always have a severe shortage of clothing to fit larger women... I just recently took another pile of too big clothing out of my closet (they're in storage now) and if in a year I still don't fit into them off they go to good will
I brought my decent clothes to a consignment store. They sort through them and the clothes they can't resell, they'll donate to charity. I didn't want to keep any of it around, though my mom kept one pair of my super fat jeans, just for comparision! :)
I'll be making quilts (with cut up t-shirts and jeans) and skirts (cut up old shirts and pants) as well as hopefully some super large hoodie shirts.  :)

Maybe we should do an exchange of clothes with this site.  I have lots of good clothes.  Is there a way we can do some exchanges or pay for shipment of clothes?

i gave it away to salvation army. some clothes like sweatpants and stuff I still wear when i'm around the house and to sleep.
I actually would take things in, sew them smaller.  Been a long time since Ive lost weight but last time I kept taking them in further and further, sewing up the sides to make them more narrow - dresses mostly.

Plus love the feel of being loose in my clothes too.

I had to give away my old clothes as i grew out of them,to make room for the new ones!

Shop clearance at all the trendy stores, aeropostale, gap, old navy.I recently ordered 245.00 worth of 3 hoodies,a sweater,a fall jacket and a cami from aero and payed only 70.00.

With bottoms, pants, skirts whatever,I go to resale shops.I can buy name brand jeans for around 10 bucks each and I think that is enough to spend for something your only going to wear for 2-3 months(that is how long any one size seems to fit me)I save the difference in what I payed and what retail price would have been so that when I get to my goal weight I will have plenty of cash to buy whatever strikes me!

I'm slowly giving really baggy stuff to Goodwill.  I use to make the mistake of rushing out to buy smaller clothes the second I dropped a size, and of course it would come back.  Advice from a counselor friend was to wait and see where I maintain.  I know you're suppose to give away big clothes so you don't relax and grow back into them, but with holidays coming up, I'm keeping some comfortable things, just in case.
I've got a big pile of 40 & 38 waist pants in the corner of my closet - my plan is to drop them in the Goodwill bin.  I'm keeping my 36 stuff for now to do yard work in etc but I'm stoked as today is my 1st day in 34s - woo hoo!  It's been a long time since I really fit in 34s.  I feel too good now to ever let myself fit in those old threads again - donate them I say!
