New Challenge: 10 lbs in 5 weeks! Final weigh-in 5/21/09

Quote  |  Reply

I am in desparate need of a new challenge! Weigh-ins will be once a week on Thursdays, starting 4/23/09. I will post the winner of each week by percentage of weight lost. Also, I am going to have a mid-goal reward and a goal reward for some extra incentive. Let's do this!!!

*So, if everyone who wants to do the challenge, can copy paste the info below (edit with your info obviously) and just edit the first post only each week, that will make it easier for me to calculate for the winner, and plus it's fun to see the results each week. Thanks and good luck!!!!!

me too!
I'm around 138ish right now.

I'm in....tired of procrastinating. 36 yrs old,  5'7", 140lbs, goal of 130-132.  Not really "overweight", but want to lean out.

Thanks for the challenge!

???? $#*@ !  22miles/week, 3 hrs strength/week, 1400cal/day....seriously. maybe I'm suppossed to be closer to 140. Raising my cals to 1500-1600/day this week, keeping workouts the same - maybe I'm doing more harm than good eating too little. Definitely leaner.....wish I wasn't hung up on a # on the scale. Frigging scale.... :)

5/21: GW: 130  AW:

Mini goal: 135  Reward:  ? I'll think of something....

Main goal: 130  Reward:  cute sundress

I need to make sure I keep eating clean - cut out the chocolate and ice cream....  :(   .   Streng th training 3x, running 3x/week (no big change there - trying to be more consistant though)....goal is to make sure I lose fat, not muscle. Since I'm building/maintaining muscle (hopefully), my weight may not change like I hope....we'll see.

Good luck, let's keep at it!

Yes, the weigh-ins are on Thursdays, I was originally going to do them Tuesdays, but wanted to give everyone a week before the first weigh-in. And if everyone could please follow my format and post it that would be great and just edit the first post each week, so I dont have to go through the whole thread.

What is everyone going to do differently to lose weight for this challenge?

For me, I need to limit my alcohol consumption, and if I do drink, switch to light beer. That will be a huge factor I think, and double my water intake.

I also started running 3x's a week, and walk 3x's.

I've never done anything like this, but certainly could use the motivation and accountability.

Well, I already cut back to near 0 alcohol (just the occasional light bear) when I started CC 6.5 weeks ago.  I've been doing really good at watching the calories and drinking lots of water and averaging about 1.3 pounds a week.  I think the only thing I can do differently is try to exercise more, which is going to be hard to find time for.  Rode the bike 14 miles this evening, and plan on doing a nice hike tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks everyone on signing up!!! Welcome to all new challengers!

I'm in! This is a great challenge Smile

Ok, my weigh-in is in.  I overshot my goal by a bit (0.6 lbs), but I was all over the board this week, which seems to happen sometimes, and I may have just gotten lucky with one of the downswings falling on Thursday. I weigh daily but don't put too much importance on the daily swings other than as a comparison to something I did differently in the days before that might have affected it.

I started at 178.8 last Thursday and was down to 176.6 by Sunday after a long Saturday hike up a nearby mountain. But that sprang back to 179.6 on Monday and has been drifting down again ever since, finishing at 176.2 this morning. I'll be extremely surprised, and maybe even a little worried, if I see another 2.6 lb drop next week.

I've now lost 10.8 lbs since starting CC, averaging 1.48 lbs / week.

Best wishes to everyone else.

Congrats jsgarvin!!! Thats so great! And great job to everyone else! Thanks for weighing in today! I will calulate the winner tomorrow. Have a great day and keep up the good work!

I slipped up last night and had a little more than a half a bottle of wine. Ugh... Why did I do that before weigh in??? Oh well, I wil just exercise twice today and move on....
