New to DFW and CC
Hello all. I am new to the DFW area and just started CC within the last 2 weeks. I've had good success thus far using the resources of this site and elliptical training. I already reached my first milestone towards my goal in weight loss in 14 days. The first milestone was to drop 10 lbs in 14 days (mostly water) to prepare for HIIT training and cycling.
I prefer to have small milestones set for 2 week intervals. It helps keep me motivated and disciplined. Specific, short term targets that are reasonable really work for me.
Being new to the DFW area has presented some unique challenges. I enjoy cycling, but I don't know what routes to take that are safe and I don't have any riding buddies here yet. Also, my commute is 10 times longer than it used to be, and that impacts my free time for exercising. For example, I prefer to exercise in the morning for an hour... not possible now unless I get up at 4:30 AM! Not gonna happen. So, I've made the adjustment to exercise right after work before dinner... and it is working out pretty good thus far.

What kind of bike do you ride? Road bike or mountain bike?
DORBA (www.dorba.org) is the Dallas Off Road Bike Assoc. May check out that site for area trails, etc.
May also check with Richardson Bike Mart...they used to have Saturday morning road bike rides for different skill levels. I think they still do this...I haven't done it in a couple of years. But they had rides that ranged from 12 miles to 54 miles.
